For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In repentance and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” (But you would not)Isaiah 30:15

Rest: be supported by God, relax in God, stand in position

Repentance: turn around, change your mind

Quietness: peaceful, be free from noise

Confidence: trust, reliance in God

God, the Master, The Holy of Israel, has this solemn counsel: “Your salvation requires you to turn back to me and stop your silly efforts to save yourselves. Your strength will come from settling down in complete dependence on me— The very thing you’ve been unwilling to do. (The Message Bible)

God asks us this on this day to calm down.

But we have not.

Many of us have been seeking God and waiting on His timing, and we do our best to turn from sin- and many of us are tired. Can we confess that we are weary, is that accepted among the community of believers?

We get tired of not measuring up to God’s standards, we exhaust on dealing with our imperfections and we certainly become weary in doing good. It seems as if the only recompense to serving God, is in heaven. Excuse you me, if I come off crude- but why should we wait for good to happen in eternity- I want to receive my rewards here on earth. This will be the only time I will live this life, I will not recall or remember the past in heaven. This can either mean that we shouldn’t care about what happens here, or it would mean that we should make the best of the life we have here.

We know God loves and accepts us, but the Lord cannot approve us because God is holy and He is just. Where and how can I get some joy and happiness?

I’m not even upset, hurt or angry anymore. I’m just tired. I’m tired of putting in more effort than I receive. I’m tired of holding on for nothing. I’m tired of getting my hopes up and being disappointed again and again.

It is very easy to listen to all of this noise in your mind and emotions, because we are naturally desirous people: yearning of pleasure and satisfaction, all along having adapted to dealing with life’s issues by finding quick escapes. But God calls us today to find stability in Him. To be completed in him. The only way to become filled with God’s joy and peace is to fully trust GOD. If we adopt an attitude (of noise) where we desire things outside of God, or in addition to God, we will turn our hearts away from HIM; we will inevitably sin, and harden our hearts towards him. If we continuously look for ways to work on things ourselves and not present them to God we will find ourselves, tired.

Let’s pray:

Father God, I come before to ask you to forgive us for being such carnal Christians. Focusing on what we see and the things we want and need. Lord help us in our unbelief, help us in our brokenness. We call on you now, Lord, to intercede and to come between these adverse situations that cause so much aching and turbulence to our souls. Show us the way to love and trust you, show us that you are dependable God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
