Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. Romans 6:6-7

Paul states that the power of sin has been broken by the death of Jesus Christ! Broken how?

The power sin had is that it condemned all of humanity to eternal damnation. There was no mediator, there was no one to bring us to right standing with God. This is the gospel, that Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil. That Jesus came to reconcile us to God. That the Christ became flesh, to bring us eternal life and to give us an abundant life here on earth.

But how can this be, if we sin daily?

The difference in sinning and living a lifestyle of sin is the fact that when we live a lifestyle of continuous sin, we cannot break free- only Christ can break that from us. And therefore the like are condemned to eternal death, unless they decide to call on Jesus for deliverance and liberation. This is repentance, the decision to change.

Once we come to Christ, we received of His holy spirit, He becomes our companion and the stronger the relationship the deeper the transformation. Even if we want to sin and live in it, the spirit of God is alive in us and will not give us over to sin. At least not without God fighting on our behalf.

The more time we spend in the lord’s presence, through fellowship we have in the holy spirit the urge to sin diminishes. And we begin to desire to exercise self control to overcome sin, and the old way to live.  If we honor God in us, our relationship with Him we will receive power from above to walk away from sin- from our own desires which lead us to temptation. But if we do not value God in us and our relationship with God, we will continue to sin. And eventually God will give us over to a reprobate mind, having saddened his holy spirit in us.

That is what we must prevent. This is something we have to maintain- our spirit to remain one with God’s spirit, to stay active in our lives.

Let’s Pray:

Father God thank you, for this word and revelation today. Thank you for tying in all the concepts you have brought to my mind this month, it has helped me greatly. I would never like to see the day when you would take your holy spirit from me, to not hear your voice, your counsel or feel your comfort or receive your joy. I apologize for being so hard, and so closed off at times when I am going through hard times- I pray you help me to draw nearer to you and to take refuge in you. There is no other God besides you, where does my help come from? You are my ever present help in time of need, and I worship you because you are faithful and you are love. I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind and over your sons and daughters- may we recognize you in our lives every single day, and the moment that we treat you in an ill manner bring this to our mind Lord Jesus so that we may humble ourselves and repent. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
