Villagers in Israel would not fight; they held back until I, Deborah, arose, until I arose, a mother in Israel. Judges 5:7
I pray you arise Deborah!
Life is challenging, and exhausting, but more so when we go through life separated from God. Ye, believers drift from God into our flesh and into the world.
Above all the things we do, prayer needs to be as consistent as our eating habits.
Without prayer, everything becomes a heavier burden, a bigger problem and a harder process when we stay stuck, in some place away from God.
All God wants is for us to trust him more, and yes, for me this has been very hard. I have to constantly remind myself, that God is not human like- there is no darkness in HIM. And this is where our faith is tested.
Even though it seems cliche for a Christian to make everything spirit, 95 % of our situations are spiritual. My first pastor, said that there are three laws we must obey- universal law, government laws and the laws of God. If we jump out of a window, gravity will pull us down we must respect these laws. Also if we go outside during the wintertime and we are under-dressed, it is most likely that we will become sick with the flu, or pneumonia and the like. If we run a red light or steal something we must also tend to the consequences. It is the same for God.
Although we are not legalistic, we are Christians. Jesus said that he is the fulfillment of the mosaic law, therefore we are to still honor the word of God. Because Jesus is the Word of God. “But someone might argue, ‘Some people have faith, and others have good works.’ My answer would be that you can’t show me your faith if you don’t do anything. But I will show you my faith by the good I do.” (James 2:14-16)
We do nothing in having faith, we need to act like it! We believe in God, but who is God? We have to spend time with God, just like any other relationship. We have to listen to God, how can we know God if we do not read His word or talk to Him?
It is very easy to lose connection with God, in the same way it is possible to lose closeness with a friend, family member or intimate partner. If you are not spending time, talking and sharing activities- the relationship will slowly but surely die out.
The enemy will do any thing and every thing to keep us busy, in order to steal our time, kill our faith and destroy our relationship with God. He does this because he knows that if we are preoccupied with terrestrial/worldly things, we are not attending the spiritual matters.
This is how the enemy intrudes into our lives and our loved ones.
God is waiting for us to take our rightful positions as Christians on the earth. The point of being a Christian is not to absorb information and grow in titles and positions in the church, our purpose in Christ is to grow into the purpose we are supposed to be in Christ.
How can we grow into the purpose of God, if we do not grow into the person we are called to be- our character must grow into our purpose. God is waiting for us to arise, like Deborah, not to stand around like the village as spectators, as the complacent, the ambivalent. We are here to make a difference, and to do so boldly and joyfully.
Thank you my God for this calling, it may be out of the norm but you are worth it God. You are my rock, and my sustainer, you are my refuge and there is none besides you. There is no other God, besides you. You are the Most High God, the All Knowing, Lord of lords, King of kings, the author and finisher of my faith, you are beyond perfect, you are the epitome of love, you are light and there is no darkness in you. Forgive us God, for allowing the cares of the world to drift us away from you. I beg you to change us from the inside out so that our desires do not consume us. May we desire you and set our hearts to seek you, that we may attain the purpose for which you called us. May we see you in our hard times and honor you in our sadness, may we seek you for direction and for joy Lord, all this I pray in Jesus name, Amen.
