For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:4-5
As Christians we are called to be connected.
Just like our limbs are connected; like the ligaments and tendons connect the muscles to the bone each member is called to be joined and held together by each other- this is how the church is set to grow (Ephesians 4:16). Everyone in their rightful place, everyone looking out for the next one’s function. If we have a bruised thigh, we used our hands to apply ointment and massage relief unto the area. If we have an ear that is not able to hear too good, we seek medical attention and pray over the ear and command it to function. Sometimes in the church it seems like we treat our body member via telekinesis and well wishes.
We are called to be of one mind; one mind to what? Are we only to be concerned about heaven?
For a really long time, more so recently- I have been battling again and not because I am thinking about my life’s struggles or my weaknesses but it is because I feel alone. I have actually written about this before, I have even been praying for new friends and I have grown closer to God which I know He appreciates.
But my main issue, is the lack of companionship that I feel. I have so much mental energy and emotional excitement and really nobody to share it with. I am excited about the things God shows me and wants to do in my life, through me and what He shows me about others- but who do I share this with. For the most part people either don’t care or cannot understand, because they are preoccupied with their own life.
It makes me feel selfish to demand time from my friends, because even if we do spend time- what will we share?
It is an exasperating thing to have an untold story in your heart, and have no one to share it with. I try to reach and connect to others, but it is rather difficult because I would like the effort reciprocated.
This reminds me of Genesis 2:18 – 20:
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.
I thought the church would be a place where everyone would want to better themselves and do amazing things in the world for Christ. But for years I have seen that church people only look to serve the church. And they happen to leave the world for those who feel the passion to go out there. It’s really baffling to me when people pray for souls, but make no actions in order to get them. I also become disturbed because church friends seem to be limited to church days. And when doing something incredibly magnificent for God, nobody understand all of a sudden they become realistic with their carnal assumptions.
- That can’t be of God
- You don’t have the money for that
- You are this and that, who told you that you are that?
Honestly, I’m at a loss of words Lord. I simply pray for help and for anybody else that may be going through these challenges in life or in their Christian walk. May you align us and link us with people who we can share life with. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
