Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. Matthew 7:6
Holy: dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose; sacred.
I am going to speak about energy: because I am constantly and painfully reminded about how sacred energy is- energy is the one thing, which is vital for life and for living.
I went to a conference yesterday, ET The Hip Hop Preacher (Eric Thomas)- it was amazing to say the least. And a surprise to me but not to God, he spoke of the time and energy we invest into others and he asked us what type of battery we are. What type of energy do we exert into the world?
I meditated on the fact that I have been exhausted, because I am always giving of my energy and I seldom receive the energy I expend. Definitely because my connection to God has been under serious turbulence, and also because my schedule has complicated my ME time.
I am one of those people who needs to recharge alone. Some people think I isolate my self, but it’s completely the opposite- this is the time I take to rekindle my fire and my existence, and address my care and concern for others.
Eric Thomas asked us to locate our energy source, and as a Christian he contributed his energy source as God. He did mention other things which he knows works for people like:
- spending time in nature
- being creative
- pampering our selves (manicure, pedicure, shopping)
From personal experience, the things that re-energize me are:
- freestyling (rap)
- watching basketball and boxing
- working out
- watching live performances
- starting my day out in prayer
One thing I have known from my previous endeavors in spirituality, is that energy is often translated as spirit, aura, vibration and power.
Energy is life.
In the past I have invested a lot into people, and I know it was not in vain so I won’t say it was a waste of time- but a lot of the time I spent on others I could have spent on my self, my dreams and invested more on God. Time is not money, but energy is money because energy is VALUABLE. I understand now why motivational speakers charge so much money in their conferences. It is worth their energy!
We pay for energy and insight. We do not simply pay for instruction.
I decided to stop giving away my power to people, this is very hard for me because I genuinely care for others but I understand (yet again) that I must not give the pearls to the swine. It is a bit disheartening to recognize that we invest into others and sometimes its a waste of time (energy and emotion), or to have it backfire. How can we give away precious pearls to pigs? Pigs do not know what is a better life, or what is of value. They only know to live in mud and to eat anything and everything.
God had given me this scripture in the past, and I had learned this same lesson previously but I obviously had not truly applied it to my life. This time around, I am taking heed.
I understand why some do not aim to help others, and it is because mostly it turns out to be a waste of energy, and demands a lot of energy.
God’s holy spirit is more than simple energy: God’s spirit is the third person (of the God head, which means Holy spirit is the ultimate infinite power). And God’s spirit is available to anyone and everyone, except that unless you are spiritual you will not understand godly things. Unless we submit our carnality to God’s will, we will not be able to resist temptations. Unless we truly desire God, over ourselves we will never be righteous before God.
1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
God, Jesus, Holy spirit- Forgive me for trying to help everyone and for wasting my time and emotion on others. I am sorry for depositing all that you gave me into others, I understand now what you have been trying to tell me all these years. I simply present these souls to you, and I pray you would deal with them according to their own caliber and convictions. Help us, who are called to encourage, to discern your timing and to detach ourselves emotionally from others; because truly this is the only way to help them. I pray for us who have mistakenly given away more than we can afford, to be replenished once again and to see the fruit of our labor whether it be today or years down the line, give us peace and joy for the work you have placed in our hands. In Jesus name, Amen.
