Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. Proverbs 6: 6-8
Everyone complains, as if that is changing their life.
This proverb means a lot to me because it portrays the ant, a creature with no soul or emotional convictions to be prepared for the future. It is amazing how we have working members, and a sound mind yet we fail to prioritize in our lives!
The ant is one of the smallest creatures, yet it is moved by instinct to survive. What is our instinct to survive?
Our instinct to survive should be to develop self-discipline.
The reason why I say this is because our generation is so off track and absent minded, in regards to what we were placed on this earth for. All that most people know is to fulfill their desires, this is not even to enjoy life. We cannot enjoy life just because we dress nice, or have sex often, or experience lots of highs. Where is the substance?
Some of the most gratifying things in life, are to love and be loved. To give to others, and help others. Another of the most enjoyable things in life is to experience new things, new people and places. Conversation interestingly enough brings a satisfaction many have lost sight of. We text and engage in the social media experience, totally trading in what it is to have substance in our everyday lives.
We were not placed on this earth to pay bills and die!
Most people, including me, want money. But what do we want money for? What difference would money make in my life? Yes, we want to be debt free. Yes, we want our family to be stress free at least concerning finances. But what about if you have that, would you need money? What if all you cared to have, eat, do or own was already paid for? What would the concern for your life be?
We would have time, because we would no longer work. We would have time to spend time with family, we would have time to write books and time to travel. We would know who needs help and we would be able to help them.
Maybe you have dreams and you are being held back because you financial responsibilities. And maybe you think going to college is your key to financial prosperity, but it isn’t. It’s about having discipline to know yourself and accept yourself. You have to have to have discipline, to not fall into depression and make the necessary changes in your character. You need discipline to know when to have faith, when you begin to get desperate. Train yourselves, to be aware of your reactions because you can lose an opportunity or impact others negatively. All things are possible for people with self discipline.
Father God, help us fulfill our dreams despite our desires and emotions. I pray you give us new mentalities and perspectives in regards to money, and responsibilities. May we learn to prioritize our time, and to keep you first in our lives. May we apply self discipline to every area in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
