And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21
“Life is a gamble. There are no sureties. If you want something badly, you’d have to trust your heart and your instincts and then take a leap of faith.”
Many people say that God does not speak today, and this is simply not true!
God is the same today, as he was in the past- He does not change. He healed before Christ, and he continues to heal today. God used to speak to the prophets and to his other servants, usually by the spirit and through visions. Some people expect to hear God as loud as thunder saying: This is God, listen to me. But God speaks through His son, by way of His holy spirit in us. God speaks through His word, the bible which is spirit, which was made flesh in Jesus. God also prompts our hearts and leads us to speak to people and to do certain things: “Something told me.”I need God to tell me what to do!! But sometimes He does not say a word to see if we would move in faith, or be hesitant for fear.
Sometimes I get upset with God, because I get troubled thinking that if it isn’t His will for me then I’m wasting my time praying. But I have noticed that God will be quick to answer, because he is a God of peace and not confusion. He knows our hearts will be troubled and therefore He come to our rescue: He is an ever present help in time of need. So I still ask God because I have made so many wrong decisions in my past, and I certainly cannot accept one more. Especially if I have the God of the universe who wants to help me. I have also learned that God’s mercy will help us even while in sin, because is goodness is what brings us to repentance. It was never God’s wrath that brought anyone to repentance, and if this is the case, then that person has yet to truly repent. We repent because of love, not fear. We decide to change, because we are convinced of our offense to God, not because of our fear to end up in hell. And another interesting thing I have learned about God, is that He will even give us peace, when His response is WAIT.
Some things are up to God, and others are up to us.
When Jesus was questioned about the money for taxes, His response was simple: Give to Caesar, what is Caesar and give to God, what is God’s. This scripture helps me to understand, that we have choices to make that pertain to this life, and God doesn’t always have to speak about every single thing we do. If we want to have pizza for lunch, God is not expecting us to pray about what we will be eating for lunch. Yes, He may care, and supply if the money or supply is lacking; but God doesn’t work in the possible, God works in the impossible. Another scripture that comes to mind, is Proverbs 19:12 which warns us against being hasty and uninformed. Sometimes we get over excited, or desperate for change that we rush into doing things. But before making decisions God expects us to be of an understanding spirit, and seek Him to order our steps in wisdom.
Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit I come before you in the name of Jesus, to get help from you for us in our daily endeavors and the decisions we will be making for our lives. If it to be a blessing, the ideas and thoughts we have in our hearts, may you shine your light on these, help us develop them and prosper our thinking. But if our lives will be filled with suffering and stress, then God speak clearly to us, that we may not wander into darkness. This simple prayer, I pray. Thank you, Amen.
