It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. Daniel 2:22
Though there are many things I would have done differently, I submit to God’s sovereignty and His purpose in my life: and I thank Him that He brought me the way He brought me and gave me what He gave me when He thought I could handle it.

Church attendance, or serving does not ensure God’s blessing. Obedience definitely plays a factor, but God’s blessings do not depend on us. I am in no way saying that God will not justly condemn sin, but a lot of the thought processes in church are incorrect. Many people end up working for their blessings, and adopt a religious attitude that only leaves them feeling burdened and worn out. And this is one of the reasons why I have so many issues with church, and church people.
Yes, God prospers us when we are obedient. But let’s be careful to not impose on others that God will only bless us, only when we are obedient. Because this then, takes us out of the count. If I am disobedient today, then why should I expect any good thing from the hand of God? Why pray? Why not leave God altogether? This is a wrong description to give others. Let’s talk about about the merciful and good God of all creation, not the God who expects perfection. I want to clarify: Obedience is not a prerequisite for God’s hand of favor and blessing, but obedience is better than walking in mercy.
These are the blessings which God will give IF and WHEN, we walk in obedience:
- Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deut. 5: 5
- Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” John 14:22
- Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8
- Observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go. 1 Kings 2:3
Thank you Jesus, that your love and favor in our lives does not depend on us. We are faulty by nature, and we would never deserve anything good from you. I thank you for your provision, your new opportunities every day and your mercy which does not allow us to be consumed. We deserved death, but your goodness shines bright in Jesus who is our justifier, and our righteousness. Thank you Lord, that although we fail you, your grace sustains us and restores us. In Jesus name, I pray for fresh revelation to all, Amen.
