Devotional 2/14

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58

God is doing something through you, as He is doing something in you.

The apostle Paul, ministered and pastored from prison, even while he was being persecuted and mocked. He was getting beat and whipped for the cause of Jesus, but his sufferings, and humiliations did not stop him from declaring that Jesus is lord! A friend of mine, a fellow sis in Christ, probably had no idea that the words she used to encourage me were the very words, I was preparing for my blog today. She said: “I thought, ‘God, this girl is probably going through the fire, the wait, yet she’s planting as she’s going’ so don’t stay shut, keep talking sis, you have no idea who you’re lifting up as you go. Your blog has been a blessing to me in days I’ve questioned, doubted, felt discouraged, so keep talking! God is doing something!” God bless her, Amen. It was Paul that said “it is no longer I who lives, but Christ in me”. And when did he write those words? He wasn’t on the beach hanging out, getting a tan and sipping on piña coladas; He said this while he was in some serious martyr type suffering. While many of us Christians, cry about the pains of having to sacrifice certain pleasures for holiness, and attitudes for godliness: there are people in China who choose to go even into caves to worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

God does not want robots! But he also does not want foolishness.

YES! Our suffering is real, but it is definitely manageable and we need to stop crying and entertaining nonsense. If you are anything like me, this is easier said than done. It is not easy to manage all the cares of life, our dreams and deep desires, while dealing also with setbacks and heart breaks. And in addition be demanded to sacrifice time and pleasure to serve God, in His standard. Yes, God has a standard: His word is the standard. Sometimes we think that God wants robots, but He doesn’t! He wants our heart!!!! If we love God, He says obey my commands. When we love Him more than we love ourselves, our family and our agenda we can truly be servants and be received by Him.

How can we get anywhere if we are two stepping the entire time?

We can cast demons out, speak in tongues and prophesy but our hearts can be full of Ourselves. My wants, my likes, my pleasure, my joy, my time: Jesus cannot fill us if we are full of ourselves. It is a decision we need to make, either surrender to your self and the world or to God: we choose life or death. And the next step is as important, after making that decision, we need to be steadfast.

Steadfast: 1.firm: firm and unwavering in purpose, loyalty, or resolve

2.fixed: firmly fixed or constant

Let’s pray:

Father God, today I present our hearts to you. May you give us courage, understanding and discernment to evaluate our hearts and show us the places that are filled with Us. Show us in your word, what can replace these crooked and cracked places and increase our love and desire for you above all things. May we humbly prioritize our relationship with you, without neglecting our daily life and loved ones. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
