And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:14
Pray for God to change your heart.
We are all imperfect human beings, and we mess up and make stupid selfish decisions too. We misunderstand eachother, we get angry, we argue and even get crazy. We slip, fall and stumble too. We get mad at God, we ask God questions like ‘why me?’ Too. If you come to God thinking you are going to deal with perfect people in the kingdom of God or in church, I will be the first to tell you that is a lie.
Christians walk away from God when He’s talking, we walk away from our purpose when the sacrifice seems overwhelming, and we get stuck in distractions too. We get depressed, we feel lonely, we get desperate too, mostly because we have not mastered our emotions. We also mess with old habits, and cheat on God with things you wouldn’t imagine. And we get back up, just like you get back up.
True Christians desire the will of God to be done.
The difference in followers of Christ, and other believers or unbelievers of the world is in our motives: we aim towards God. We are driven by God’s word, His love and presence. We are pulled by the calling, the reason God set us apart: His purpose. We can put in work and labor for money, for recognition, for pats on the back, for pleasures which feed our flesh and ego. But that’s not how God intends us to live. If we sow seeds that will reap into money and recognition, great, but that’s not why He created us. God, He, created us to bring His name glory.
Do to others, as God has done for you.
He created us to do things He would do, if He was a human on earth. We are not there yet, but if you are truly a lover of God, that becomes your new nature. And if its not, seek God. Remember God said if you sin, change your ways: he didn’t say if you sin, get away from me. He didn’t say if you sin, stop serving: He said if you sin, repent. And from personal experience, if you don’t want to use your own power to change, know that God will confront you. You can always pray for God to change your heart, to give you a repented heart (AND HE WILL). Remember to forgive others. If others do you dirty, including Christians, remember you have done people dirty too.
Thank you lord for your strength and power, for your grace and patience with us. May we extend what you have given to us, to others. May we live lives worthy to be called sons of God. May we pray knowing your heart’s desire. May we make decisions based on your revealed will, the Bible- and may we shift our focus, from us towards you. In Jesus name, Amen.
