Devotional 3/26

According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined.
Henry David Thoreau

I needed to give you the context of the scripture, therefore all these scriptures were necessary. One thing I have learned for certain is that I am built on the Rock which is Christ Jesus. How do I know? How would you know if you are or are not?
You are founded upon the Rock, Christ Jesus: if your life turns upside down or you fail God in ANY way and;

  • you still believe God’s word and live by it and because of it
  • you still serve God
  • you still express thanksgiving and praise

despite it all: you are standing firm on Him, as foundation.

If you have been brutally broken, but still have the courage to be gentle to others then you deserve a love deeper than the ocean itself.
Nikita Gill

God uses fire to purify our faith and to purify our flesh; for He is a consuming fire. If we say to have faith, God will send trials to test our faith as gold is tested in the fire. To test our hearts, God also sends trials and causes purification from  the inside out. And if you couldn’t imagine it so, God also sends us through the Pottery barn. This pottery barn is to reshape us, cut us up, mold us and dry us in the burning oven or scorching sun…. this is all of what He does to us.

In return, we receive beauty for ashes. We are taken from the darkness, and brought into the light into an eternal relationship with God. But what do we do? We offer our lives to God as a living sacrifice. This life we give God, will be tested as well. Let’s say we say God give me a child, give me a job, give me a partner, etc, God will see if any of what was placed in your hands was founded on HIM.

If a friendship is built in the faith, the friendship will outlast many trips and falls but if the friendship was formed on lies, manipulation or vices- the friendship will destroy each person and will also be consumed in itself. This is somewhat similar to what God is going to do with us.

If we are leading the people, are we leading them to ourselves or to God? If we are evangelizing in the streets, is it to win souls or to obey leadership? If you wear nice clothes to church, do you do to bring God honor or do you do it to draw attention?

Let’s pray:

Father God, I pray for forgiveness for those people who are in situations where they have been serving themselves, and pretending to serve you. I pray for forgiveness for those who do not discern between fleshly things and spiritual things. And I ask for forgiveness for those who give you just about anything, including left overs, may you have mercy on us all. Thank you for the friendships, may you continue to build our unions with other in you and in your word. In Jesus name, Amen.
