Devotional 3/31

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7

I say the idea came from the Holy Spirit.
Nancy Evans

We are 3 in one beings; we are body, soul and spirit. For example:

  • an egg is a 3 part being; the yolk, the whites and the shell.
  • Water is also a 3 part being; it can be ice, vapor or liquid.

As humans beings, we cannot separate our body from who we are, nor separate our emotions and we simply cannot removed from our spirit with which we receive life, operate in and are animated by. In this similar way which nature works, so does God. God said in Genesis : “Let us make man in our image and likeness.” God knew that He was creating human beings, He also knew He was making spirit beings with a variety of emotions intertwined.

See, God’s sovereignty created the Sun to provide light, and calcium to our skin for our bones, and for those trees which feed from the sun, to provide us vegetable and oats. God was aware of Adam’s lack of emotional and physical support, therefore He made Eve just for him. God seeing that we would mess up, sent Jesus Christ to earth, as a scapegoat. Literally. Jesus was able to take our sins to the cross, give us forgiveness and eternal life. Today, everyday we live, we have a new chance at a relationship with God, through His son By His Holy spirit.

It’s impossible to follow God unless we are led by His Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit:

  • Comforter
  • Counselor
  • Helper
  • Advocate
  • Intercessor
  • Strengthener
  • Standby
  • Teacher

In Ephesians 5, the bible uses ‘drunk’ as the term to describe our relationship with the holy Spirit. Being drunk is to be consumed by alcohol, if we are to be drunk in the Spirit”, we are supposed to be consumed by God’s Spirit.

As soon as we accept God into our hearts, we receive the sea of his spirit. Its a mark, which is redeemed in eternity; it is like a lay-a-way. Once we begin to grow in God, through prayer and nurturing in the word, we should begin to ask the Holy Spirit to lead,  guide us, and help us be obedient to God!

  1. a person trained to give guidance on personal, social, or psychological problems.
adviser, consultant, guide, mentor; expert, specialist

The holy spirit is a reminder, a teacher and a counselor. If you ever need advice, get it from Holy Spirit. The Spirit works through our conscience to make us aware of sin in our lives.

Let’s pray:

Holy Spirit, I love you, we love you. We ask for forgiveness for grieving you, for offending and for ever brushing you off. May our convictions be stronger, may our love for you be stronger than for life itself. May your company keep, guide and comfort us. May you take away all of the contamination, in our bodies, in our souls and our spirits. In Jesus name, Amen.
