Devotional 5/12

Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them. 2 Timothy 2:4

You don’t stop being God’s child when you mess up God knows your heart and He loves you.

There are no failures in life, just results from your decisions. These are negatively termed consequences, but when you think about it, they are more than consequences, they are results. If you work out, the results are you will gain muscle or lose weight. If you do not work out, the results are that your body will not change or you will gain weight. If you mess up on God, accept it- challenge yourself to move forward. Maybe people are a witness to your mistakes, but you have to believe that it is what it is. You cannot deny that it happened, and you cannot go back in time. You simply have to accept the past, and keep it moving. Back in the MySpace days, that was my phrase for years!

KEEP IT MOVING, FEI.

I have learned that we can go through so much and life, even accepting God’s love and mercy- but we forget to forgive ourselves. We beat ourselves up, saying I knew better! Why didn’t I do better? I’m so stupid, I messed this up. I mess things up, I’m not getting better! But I want to encourage you, that your soul will appreciate it if you decide to forgive yourself.

You can’t start the next chapter of your life,
if you keep re-reading the last one.

Un-Forgiveness causes anger, and when anger is present in your life it makes it impossible to truly love anything or anyone, including yourself. It robs us of energy, and the ability to make good use of our present. The lack of resolve when dealing with resentment in your heart, is actions that destroy your character along with relationships you are involved in. needless to say, you will act out and limit everything that God wants to do in your life. This is why God does not want us to live in condemnation, God wants us to live in His freedom and in His power.
Yes!!! We fail, we’ve been fooled a few times, we continued in the negative relationships even when we were warned, even if we saw red flags. Yes, God told you to stop doing this and that, the bible confronted you, you stumbled and God had to pick you up again. Yes, you promised you would stop, but you didn’t. Yes, you are heartbroken now, or maybe disappointed with yourself but trust me, God will turn it around for good.
This is my phrase now, after coming to Christ- I know He will use my worst mistakes, whether impulsive or deliberate, for good because He loves me and I’m walking in His purpose.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, God of mercy and grace I thank you for who you are and that you cannot deny your character. May your grace and mercy touch those in pain, who cannot believe they have fallen, or are drowning in doubt, fear or self hate. Help us to not harm ourselves, or anyone else because of the inner turmoil. May your restoration power awaken a new desire for life, and give us the self discipline to put the efforts we need to overcome and live a prosperous and abundant life. In Jesus name, Amen.
