Devotional 5/14

Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Ephesians 4:23

Believe in yourself, God knows your potential.

I don’t want you to be one of those people who miss your life, because you believed in what was normal and average. Every child has a dream, a passion, and then life happens. Sometimes we make decisions that alter or deter our purpose, but if we re-align ourselves we will surely get somewhere. If we do not, then we will be the common 9-5 pm, come home to watch TV and go to sleep to go to work again. If we follow the wave of mediocrity, we will live a routine and live for the weekends and for the vacations. It is not acceptable that life is 70 % work and duties, while 30 % is rest and leisure. Where did I get these percentages from? 5 day of a 7 week is 70%, while 2 days is 30%. Your life is 100 % yours, but it doesn’t seem like it at all.

Alter: change or cause to change in character or composition, typically in a comparatively small but significant way; make changes to, make different, make alterations to, adjust, make adjustments to, adapt, amend, modify, revise, revamp, rework, redo, refine, transform; tailor (clothing) for a better fit or to conform to fashion.

Deter: discourage (someone) from doing something, typically by instilling doubt or fear of the consequences; discourage, dissuade, put off, scare off; prevent the occurrence of.

I want to challenge you! Raise your standards: Demand for your life, demand more from yourself.

How do you do this? You change your acceptance and tolerance levels. Instead of allowing life to happen to you, go after what you want and dream about. Change your I should to “I MUST”, no longer accept average friendships, and average conversation. No longer tolerate the “I can’t” mentality from yourself or others. No longer tolerate people around you who have no ambition in life, to be your closest friends, to be your circle of influence. No longer tolerate people that are not walking in the same direction that you are. No longer tolerate criticism and negativity to be in the same room as you.  And one last thing, develop your aspirations and exercise your potential. Other words for aspiration, are desires, hopes, dreams, ambitions, goals, purpose.

Let’s pray:

Father God, forgive us for our wrongs and please help each person forgive themselves too. Teach us to love ourselves, and our entire lives whether ‘good or bad’. May we learn to enjoy this life to it’s fullest, but to remain attached to you as we do. I pray for friendships and relationships, may you give each person involved a sense of purpose and direction. May we learn to sacrifice, compromise and agree to disagree, and not be separated for lack of vision, resentment or disagreement. I pray for each of us to see ourselves, and the people around us as you, God, see us. May you be our personal coach, as we raise our standards. In Jesus name, Amen.
