Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 4:1
The universe is not God.
One of my favorite books in the bible is Colossians. I have a love for each individual book in the New Testament, but Colossians (and Romans) is directed to people like me. People who because of their inquisitive nature, search for knowledge and feed themselves of it. Ever since I can remember I have been enamored by reading and writing, I’m really intellectual not to say that I am super intelligent or anything like that, but I enjoy intellectual conversations. In friendships, I feed from intellectual challenges and learning of new things. Growing up I was into Mysticism: Tarot card reading, astrology, horoscopes, white magic, palm reading, candle omens, superstitions and spiritual herbal baths, I even played with the Ouija board. The only thing I never did was hurt people, so I stood away from voodoo. I always believed in Jehovah and Jesus, but I never knew Holy Spirit. I did not understand the bible, but I liked reading it. Yet once I was saved, before serving God, I began to find comfort in the Psalms and my faith increased in my minimal fellowship with God’s Holy Spirit.
Having believed in mysticism, retrogrades, and energy; I recognize the meaning behind “I would say I am spiritual, but I don’t follow religion”. I remember putting that into my MySpace and Facebook “About me” sections. But I tell you today, God is a jealous God. All these things are forms of idolatry, even if you call yourself a Christian. God is a holy God, therefore He does not accept us believing in Him and anything else. He wants us to be set apart from these things, set apart only for HIM. Today we have to be very careful with what we lend our eyes and ears to, because we live in a generation where God is universal, and religions are tolerated. Although God says to love others, we are not called to accept other people’s truth- we are to hold strong and affirm the TRUTH which is Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the only mediator between God and man. To many religions Jesus is a great teacher, and to others a prophet. To some God is love, and yes God is LOVE, but they fail to recognize that God is a holy consuming fire. They do not realize that Jesus is the human expression, of God the father’s entire deity. They fail to recognize that Jesus is God, manifested as God in the flesh, God with us.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God.
Please do not confuse yourselves with all the religious material in the world. Some claim that God’s spirit is in everyone. This is not so, God did give us a human spirit but His holy spirit is ONLY given to us once we believe and confess Jesus Christ as Lord (Romans 8:16). The universe is not God, God is the creator of the universe. The law of attraction is faith, and what is manifested is by God’s sovereign rule. You can practice meditation and chant hundreds of affirmations, but things will come to you IF and WHEN God releases them. New age, Mysticism, Yoga, Hinduism/Buddhism, and Humanism are all examples of spiritual practices which can be confused for Christianity. Even religious practices like asceticism and legalism; which push the agenda of prohibiting self indulgence and sacrifice in exchange for spirituality.
Some Christian denominations deny the power of God, because they remain within the limitations of doctrine foundations in their churches and other ones mix sound doctrine with doctrine of devils. Doctrines of devils are the lie that there is “no hell”, or that there is “no devil, because life on earth is hell”, “being gay is natural”, “once saved, always saved”, “don’t judge sin, unless you will be judged”, etc. Another wave of mixing is coming in, where the church has become a motivational speakers auditorium and Christian singers offer entertainment.
It really is simply scary. Islamic faith, Seventh Day Adventist, Catholicism, Mormonism and Jehovah Witness, are all Monotheistic religions like Christianity, but all erroneous. Even The point I am trying to make, is that we need to be more reverential in regards to who Holy Spirit is. Many people believe in God, but do they know Jesus Christ. Others have heard of Jesus Christ, but are they yielding their lives in obedience to Him?
Have mercy on us God! On your people, and those who’s heart is after yours. Help us to stand firm, and to be zealous with your temple and with those preachers who feed the flock and those who serve. Consume all of our impurities by your fire. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.
