Devotional 6/4

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. John 14:27

Jesus promised his disciples three things – that they would be completely fearless, absurdly happy and in constant trouble.
G. K. Chesterton

Can God trust you when you are down and out? Can He trust you when you are sad, or anxious? Can God trust you when you are tired?

The truth is, that we earn God’s trust. He allows so much, in order to test our faith, our drive and to shape our characters. If you are tired and do not want to go to work- well, you may miss out on the money that you would be receiving in the next paycheck. The bible tells of situations where even Paul declared ‘we despaired for life itself’ aka ‘we wanted to die‘- but because God’s plans were greater, He completed the tasks lined up for Him, in God’s predestined will. It’s okay to be tired, it’s okay to feel sad or discouraged- but build yourself up is what I would say. Challenge your thoughts, challenge your inner voice, challenge your emotions, because in the end if it does not match the words of the bible, then you need to re-align. Let your heart  be full of your trust in God, believing God is real is not enough. Life works us so hard, that we sometimes want to get off the ride, leave the church, walk off, and go into a cave. It’s happened to me before, but I’ve learned to encourage myself. I’ve learned that if everyone around me is dying, and does not receive my encouragement or counsel, then I still go into solitude and help myself.

Sometimes we are so ready to help the next person, and bring our families and loved ones to the truth that we start to carry them on our shoulder. What if they go to hell? What if the devil attacks them? What if they turn against me? What if they leave me? Even if all these things do happen, you must believe that ALL THINGS TRULY DO WORK OUT FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE CALLED ACCORDING TO GOD’S PURPOSE, TO THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. God is not man to lie, he is not a con-artist, he is not selling us a dream- He truly is the lord of Lords and the King of kings. So what’s shaking you up?

Other times, we see our frail human nature and we are totally disappointed in who we are. But this is for your own good. I say this because it’s true, whatever you overcome becomes a weapon in your arsenal for the future. If you overcame prostitution, there is a whole world of prostitutes waiting for you to testify!

Christ’s disciples, more than others, should keep their minds quiet, and keep their hearts clean. Believe and be comforted. This is what our soul desires: comfort. But the only way for us to be comforted is by trusting God at His word.

Because God allows us to go through hardship does not mean that He is an evil God or does not love us. Because the enemy works in all the world stealing, killing and destroying does not mean that God forgot about us. Even if there is a bit of doubt in your heart, fill your self with the word of God in that specific area. I trust that God led me to write this today, for you all. And I pray to be of help, by helping you emotionally, spiritually and intellectually. Stand firm in what you believe about God’s character according to His word. And Keep pushing in praying, you are about to give birth to something God given- maybe a ministry, maybe a promotion at work, maybe a family member’s salvation… Amen.  The revelation of God to man is Jesus Christ; for Jesus said if you have seen the son you have seen the father.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus , as life happens we have a tendency to lose control of our emotions, our prayer life and sometimes even our faith. I pray for steadfast faith in each person reading this, may your word be hidden in our hearts so that we may grow and give birth to your perfect will for our lives, in our relationships, in the secular and spiritual worlds. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
