“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
He is God in the flesh, Jesus: the Christ! The messiah, the savior of the world. Jesus is and will forever be the anointed one; the everlasting father.
What a mighty God we serve! God is our everlasting father! Some people say but isn’t Jesus the son of God, how can he be The everlasting too? If we know the scripture we learn that Jesus was the word, and the word was made flesh. The word was with God from the beginning, the word was God. (John 1:1) And in another instance, John 10:30 Jesus said “I and the father are one“. And in Colossians, the Bible says Jesus is the fullness of God’s dignity in a human body. Remember God is one, but He manifests in three person. Just like water, vapor and ice are all water. An egg, it’s yolk, fresh out of the chicken and it’s cooked solid form is also an egg in different forms. God, Jesus and holy spirit are God in different operations and characteristics. But only one God. You, your SELF, are a body, a soul and a spirit but you are only one. Your body is to communicate with your environment, your spirit to communicate with God, and your soul is in constant communication with your spirit and body.
Rulers of nations are called the founding fathers, or like Abraham the father of the faith, or like terms we say today ‘father of the family’. Can someone be a father of a nation? Or of faith? But these terms identify these people as the originators. God is the originator if all creation. As a father Jesus, God in the flesh, would protect and provide for Israel: this is the prophecy which Isaiah declared in Isaiah 9:6. But this fatherhood was not only for a set period of time, but forever…. everlasting… without end. At some point the people of Israel were not even a people, they had no race or nation. But God made them a people, like us, we were nobodies, we were part of the crowd. But now we are God’s special peculiar people. We have been found by God, to be precious in His sight as God’s representatives here on the earth.
The everlasting father redeemed us from slavery of sin, like He bought Israel from Egyptian ownership. God is our owner. God created us, He conceived us in His mind, then formed us from the dust in our mothers wombs. And God separated Israel to His people, His glory on the earth: likewise we are God’s glory, separated here on earth for Him. If we accept the call.
Lord Jesus, today I pray for those people who wonder about your deity and equality to God the father. May you reveal to everyone reading that you are the Rock of the Old Testament, the angel of the lord that was in the furnace with the 3 Hebrew boys and the one who will come with a voice like an archangel on the sound of the last trumpet. May we all recognize that you are not a God of division or confusion, but an individual father to each of us. May you comfort those who are fatherless, and renew anyone’s faith who has been battling with understanding the trinity. In Jesus name, Amen.
