The spirit (conscience) of man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching and examining all the innermost parts of his being. Proverbs 20:29
You can’t be who you are going to be and who you used to be at the same time.
God breathed His spirit into our spirit. Everyone has a spirit, but not everyone has received the Holy Spirit of God. Our Spirit is divine, and was given for us to communicate with God. The Spirit is the eternal part of us. How can we neglect our spirits? We do it all the time, with short term pleasure, seeking amusement and entertainment at all times. The spirit likes peace, grace and beauty; meanwhile this world is so noisy and people are so negatively loud! When God created us, He designed us to be like Him! And because He is Spirit, He is able to see our spirits clearly, and brightly. The scripture says that our spirit is a lamp to God. A lamp shines, and helps to see whatever is hidden and illuminates the dark.
Our spirit is laid bare before God, we are naked before Him. He sees our deepest thoughts, desires and intentions. God knows when we truly were not aware of something, and He also knows when we are in denial. He knows when we are lying, or pretending. And He does not only know this about me, He knows this about you and everyone in the entire world. Neshamah is the word used in Genesis 2:7 , when God breathed into man and gave him life. This is the spirit of life. This is the spirit which knows us, for who we truly are. Verse 11 in 1st Corinthians 2 says “Who knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him?”. If we concern ourselves greatly with the things outside of us, we will miss life. We must self actualize, and look at life in amazement like a child.
There are two ways of looking at the world, one as if everything is a miracle, and second, as if nothing is. Albert Einstein
Lord Jesus, your word says that you called us according to your purpose. And it also says that you have set us apart, for specific appointments. I also know that you qualify us to be who you know we are to be, and is why you allow us to go through trials afflictions and tribulations. I also know that your will is perfect, is good I pray you would use us, show us how to take who we are and who we want to be, and to use ourselves for a purpose greater than ourselves. Make us like the horses, who are unable to get out of focus. Refocus us Lord, and deliver us from temptations, recognizing that our flesh is weak- teach us to war in the spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
