Devotional 11/15

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you ministers, as overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. Acts 20:28

Don’t wait until you feel qualified to do what God is calling you to do.
Stacy Edwards

God has a calling for each of us, and His call is very unique, perfectly fit to each individual. He takes into considerations your dreams, your past and your processes; but one thing I know for sure is that God has us prepare in secret. He prepares us in the secret place. There are things we will never testify, or maybe will one day when we are old, because they are so dear to us. Such personal things, that only God and you shared.

God will not do everything for us, but He will give us guidance, direction, knowledge, wisdom and strategy. We can dream day and night, but we are not going to achieve ANY of those dreams without learning and putting in the work. It can be a little frustrating, I must admit when you are in preparation mode for a long time, and God seems to be withholding the fruit of your labor. But after people’s praise and encouragement, we have to do our own walking. After people leave, and come back, we still keep up the good work. Times will get hard, but they work beautifully into our development. For example, if I had never been heartbroken by people, I would be needing their approval. If I had never been betrayed, I would be in partnership with people who never had an intention to follow after God’s perfect will. And if I had not had to fight, for every single ministry which I have been able to start from scratch, any gust or wind, like sadness or disappointment would cause me to fold up my arms and walk away.

There is so much more going on in the process, just as the bible says in Romans 5:3-4: And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint. If I can be honest, we face some serious adversities in life. Christians call them giants, like the giant Goliath, who David defeated. These giants are named ‘exhaustion, overwhelmed, anxiety, uncertainty, frustration, discouragement, restlessness, bitterness, anger, apathy, arrogance’, and so many more!!! You see God called and anointed David when he was a teenager, but He did not become king until He was in his 30’s! When the giant was mocking the people of Israel, David said, when I was in the woods I fought lions and bears, why should I be intimidated by this giant? (1 Samuel 17:34). This is to say, that ALL we learned in our past was preparation for what would come in God’s calling.

One interesting thing that happened to David, was that King Saul became jealous of him. David had to go through the process of running for his life, from someone he loved! Does that even make sense? David did not want the kingdom, David defeated Goliath, because God set him up in divine timing. But there was an envy which rose from within Saul, and David suffered. That was before David was king, then when David became a king and his children were old…. his own son turned against him. It is safe to say that even though David did not expect this, nor was he told in advance of it, he had been prepared for it in an earlier season of his life.

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Psalm 37:23

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, sometimes it’s hard for us to understand why things happen and even harder to connect the dots when we are going through life. I know that many of us have gone through painful times, frightening times and desperate times, where our bodies have taken a toll due to the fluctuations of emotions. I present these people to you, I rebuke cancer, and hormonal/cortisol related imbalances in the name of Jesus. I ask that you heal all emotional and mental weariness, and instability so that we all may be able to live well balanced lives according to the design of your predestined will. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
