Devotional 11/23

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26

Praise kills giants.

Remember to worship God in spirit and in truth, despite the feelings and battles. We offer the Lord sacrifice of praise, despite our circumstances. If you are feeling down, I want to remind you that praise defeats great giants. God is a professional in turning sorrow into dancing. Even when we fail, God is still our portion. He is always present, and therefore we, like king David, should command our souls to worship God.

Portion:

  • Part of a whole; an amount, section, or piece of something: part, piece, bit, section, segment
  • Divide (something) into shares to be distributed among two or more people.

If we have God, we need nothing else because He can and will give us the desires of our hearts. It’s okay to not be okay, except that we don’t allow ourselves to stay in that place. We praise God for who He is! God is the God of process. He has a way of using our exhaustion, trials and battles to help others (in our present or future), He is a God of purpose. This is a way, God qualifies us for ministry, calling and service to the world (purpose).

Gold, silver and diamonds all have to be processed right? Otherwise we wouldnt value or know their quality. God uses every circumstance to process us. Look at the life of Jesus, He gestated in His mother’s womb for 9 months. He went to school and at 12 He wanted to be about His father’s business… but it was not yet time. Like Jesus, we must also be processed. Every crooked place in our lives, will go through a process to be straightened. Every broken place, will undergo a process to be mended. And every destroyed place, will be restored to a better condition than its original form, during a process. Focus on your progress, not your process and remember every process has a purpose.

We can be tired of certain situations not changing and we can even get tired of overthinking, or other bad habits. But I’ve learned that happiness is an inside job. We can get the house, the man, the money or whatever we think will make us happy…  and not be happy afterall! Wr may be able to enjoy health, but have no money on the other end. Or have a husband or wife, with some kind of issue. Or earn more money at work, yet have more responsibility. Life is bittersweet but we are survivors. I always tell people to always keep pushing, even if you must drag yourself for a while. Make sure you keep going! Keep it moving!

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, I’m grateful for You and salvation. Grateful for every time I’ve  felt like giving up, You would not let me. I thank you for those people who pray and minister to others. For those who make it their mission to love others. I pray you would continue to process us to love and persevere through anything an everything life throws our way. In Jesus name, Amen.
