Devotional 1/15

I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. Philippians 1:6

Everyone tells a story about themselves in their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.

Patrick Rothfuss

I speak to many people of all ages, and find that living in our bodies can become mundane. So I decided to write this blog, as a reminder to both you and me, that we are unique and beautiful!

Have you ever looked in the mirror and contemplated yourself?
Like, “wow I’m a beautiful girl; why haven’t I noticed?

I want to remind YOU to look in the mirror and see the beautiful reflection staring back at you. Other people may see it, or they may not- we are in our skin, and we should be able to contemplate our beauty. I don’t mean in a vain way, or in an arrogant stance like Satan but in a self appreciative way. I confess to being guilty: we can be so accustomed to our looks, where we can lose sense of the admiration, we give to others. Seeing ourselves everyday may cause us to become familiar with our physical attributes, eventually becoming critical or antagonistic with ourselves and therefore losing sight of our value and beauty. Aside from physical aspects, I want to go full circle on the ‘self. Although the ‘self’ is the flesh, and is opposed to God, the ‘self’ is related to our identity. And identity is made up of: looks, convictions (beliefs), personality (character), and gifts/talents (service). If we lose focus in life, we risk  losing our identity (knowledge of ‘self’). Losing our identity is losing our ‘self’: dismissing our own beauty and significance.

We all have something to say, something to do, something to give and something to fix. If we can cooperate with God, by developing our ‘SELF’, then our lives will reap unimaginable benefits and we will see God’s purpose fulfilled according to his plans for the Earth. Our SELF is what God needs and uses for benefit of the world and His kingdom, as well. When it rains, some drops of water lose their identity when they join the ocean, lakes or rivers. And there are other drops of water that fall into the ground and feed all living things (like vegetation, animals & humans): this water has found its identity. Imagine we all pretend to be other people, or depend on the latest trends or celebrities, in copying their ways, opinions, and even mannerisms. We would instantly become like the drop water that goes into the ocean, we must have a sense of individuality and a sense of significance.

We are more than our jobs, and than the money we have in the bank; we are more important and significant than the latest tech gadgets or latest car models. Those things are additional to who we are, something like decoration or cherries on top. And I pray God will help you see that you are not just any regular person, you are extremely beautiful, capable and loved. You have a special design, and a beautiful life ahead of you, which God has been orchestrating for such a time as this.

Be the cake, not the frosting!

May 2018, be your best year yet!

Let’s pray:

Thank you father God for breakthroughs and deliverance. I thank you for fresh revelation, and deeper convictions. I thank you for the fire you lit deep within me, to always and continual develop myself. I pray for those reading, may this year be a year of self improvement and self actualization. May we overcome and conquer territories which seemed impossible to us, but I stand in the gap for us Lord: with men, some things may be impossible but With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Be it so, in Jesus name. Amen.
