Devotional 3/23

So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]. James 4:7-8

You can’t walk with God holding hands with the devil.

Lord, forgive for us for our rebellious spirit.  Thank You for Your great love and tender mercy toward me. I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, who has all authority in heaven and on earth. In the name of Jesus, who resurrected and ascended to heaven defeating the power of Satan and the grave.

Lord your word says that you would remove the spirit of heaviness, and give us new clothing of praise. May we wear praise and worship instead of depression and negative emotions. Help us to rejoice in you, always even during hard and confusing times. I pray for your angels, Lord. May you send your angels to minister to us and shield us from the enemy and all turbulence and attack. May we be the sweet perfume of your presence, and your blood repel all evil and every satanic messenger from us.

I pray we may put on the helmet of salvation, and take captive all thoughts which exalt themselves above you. I present our minds to the rule of the Holy Spirit, so that we would be full of light and peace. I pray you would take authority, and teach us to reject the thoughts, accusations and lies of the enemy who come to destroy us and steal our peace.

We put on the breastplate of righteousness, to cover our hearts. We reject thoughts, imaginations and any pretense that opposes the love and view you have of us. I rebuke thoughts of self-hatred, failure, pride, shame, resentment and other sinful attitudes which keep us in a negative prison.

We gird up our belts of truth, and be firm in the truth. May we refuse, and discern when the enemy lies and tries to draw us away from you. May we base our lives on your truth: your word.

Let us hold the shield of faith and block all of the attacks and attempts of the enemy. May we put out the fire of Satan’s darts. May we learn to build our faith, and counterattack the enemy by using, expressing and standing, in our faith.

We take the sword of Spirit, which is your word God and mighty to cut through the flesh, the souls, and the thoughts; your word which transcends time and distance. May we have enough word in us to cut the devil’s head off, any devil which persecutes us. May we speak your word and promises over our lives, and over those people we love.

We put on the shoes of the gospel of peace and good news. May we stand firm on the rock of Jesus that cannot be shaken. Help us to know and also understand your word so that we could live according to your word.

I ask you to clothe us in the full armor of God. Help us to love you, serve you, worship you and share your love with those around us. May your fruit grow in our character, and may we be living testimonies of your goodness. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
