Devotional 3/28

But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

When God designed the plan for your life, it wasn’t dependent on you being perfect. Your mistakes are not a surprise to Him.

Grace has nothing to do with us, or our behavior. It is an unearned love and power directly from God for us to do life WITH Him. It is a supernatural piece of our relationship with God. Did you know that only Christ believers are able to receive grace, and actually are receiving grace? Unbelievers cannot receive grace, because they do not know grace. God gives unbelievers love, and mercy- but not grace. God thought we were worth it, before we even knew or cared about who He was. Although there is a lot of argument on why God creates people, and assigns eternal damnation for them: we have to trust God’s sovereignty, holiness and justice. He had a plan from before time began: He died before the foundations of the earth (Revelation 13:8). God planned to show us His grace before we even existed! He then created us to fit into His plan (2 Timothy 1:9).

  • “Pre”- “before”
  • “destination” – “point of final arrival.”

We are deeply loved, and today God wants to remind us that as parents unconditionally love their children: His love is greater than their carnal and contaminated love. Parents have good desires for us, but they do not know the depths of our hearts, nor our design: but God does. He knows what we are capable of, what we prefer, what makes us troubled, and how to bring us peace and comfort. The best person in the world can try to console and uplift us, but one word from God will over power good intentions and elaborate intelligent speaking every time. The enemy will fashion weapons against us, but God said in Isaiah 54 that he is the one who created the weapon maker. No weapon formed against us, truly cannot overpower God’s protection and unique care for us. Another thing I remember is that God’s word says that we cannot be separated from God’s love…

NOTHING can separate us from God’s love:

  • not by death
  • life
  • angels
  • ruling spirits in heavenly places (principalities nor powers)

NOTHING can separate us from God’s love:

  • nothing now (present)
  • nothing in the future
  • no spiritual powers
  • nothing in heaven
  • nothing under the earth (in the underworld)
  • nothing in the whole created world

NOTHING can separate us from God’s love, which He has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing can get between us and the love God has for us because of the way that Jesus our Master has given Himself to us. He chose to be separated from God’s presence to love us. He chose to demote Himself from GOD, to become a human. And He traded His divine life, for a life of suffering, rejection and limitations. He was physically mutilated to give us freedom, prosperity and authority over sin and satanic powers. You would not do any of that for anybody you claim to love: let’s be real.

Let’s pray:

Sovereign God, eternal father YOUR word says in Ephesians 1:11, that in you we have obtained an inheritance, because we were predestined according to YOUR purpose. And that YOUR purpose causes YOU to do and work things in our lives after YOUR own counsel, YOUR own advice for the plans and expectations YOU assigned before YOU created us. When we lose hope, help us to remember that your plan is greater and that your love is greater than our disappointments; and that your plans are better than any we can come up with. I pray this for all who are reading today, reveal your great love and grace to us, in Jesus name. Amen.
