Devotional 4/22

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:11-13

To fear is to expect punishment. To love is to know we are immersed not in darkness, but in light. Mother Theresa

Nobody is free from demonic animosity, not even his own workers. Satan wants both Christians, non-Christians and unbelievers to be confused about salvation. Satan’s point is to take us all to heaven. Most people believe that doing good, or giving to the needy is what will get them to heaven: others believe that if they attend church, yet live as they please would give them a ‘get to heaven’ ticket: while others do not even believe heaven and hell exists.

One of the greatest challenges that we face as Christians, is the idea that we can lose our salvation. According to some people God is bipolar, and seals us once- then unseals us when we commit any disobedience. Many people do not, and cannot know the love of God yet because they fear His judgment. God’s love is a perfect love. God’s love is like Hosea’s relationship with his wife, Gomer the prostitute. She cheated on Hosea time and time again, her soul was not satisfied or maybe like many of us she had some cycles in her life which did not allow her to be faithful to him. Maybe she found herself bored with routine, maybe Hosea only spoke of God all day long and forgot to romance her or enjoy life with her, or maybe she was seduced by the things of her past (before marriage). But my point is not Gomer’s sins, my focus is on God’s instructions to Hosea and His own dealing with her.

God is harsh! Believe it or not, God is not good and definitely not all the time. I say this because when we really know God, we know Him as a chastising father. Even Job said, God bruise me but He too will heal me. And He drew Gomer back to him, but not before letting her experience hunger, drought and failure because He withheld His provision and closed doors for her. But He won her back, He romanced her. Who can understand God after all? I want you guys to really consider salvation for yourselves, do not let Satan take you into condemnation, nor into abusing God’s grace and mercy and definitely do not adopt other people’s beliefs.

Jesus died once, and for all… if you sin deliberately then you are cruxifying the Lord again and again.. and quite possibly without remorse, you were never saved to begin with. (Romans 6:10, 1 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 9:28: Hebrews 10:26: Hebrews 6:4)

Let’s pray:

Lord God of heaven, I thank you for salvation: for the peace that surpasses understanding and the love you have shed over our hearts. May each person who has acknowledged your name and invited you into their hearts receive a fresh revelation of your scriptures, those pertaining with salvation. May you cause us to sanctity YOU in our hearts, and draw our hearts to you and take away all lies the enemy has infiltrated into the churches. Clean our hearts from deceit, hate and pride: we are children of light not of darkness, change our nature from Satan’s to yours Lord Jesus. We know we cannot fool you, and you know our hearts whether we want to please you or if we are pretending. I present our hearts and minds to you God, in Jesus name. Amen.  See the source image
