Devotional 5/8

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death. Revelation 2:11

Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved.
Martin Luther

Father God, Lord Jesus, precious Holy Spirit if God we know you can’t do all the work for us but Lord your church is a complicated people! And we need you so desperately. We are all on different spiritual journeys, processes and levels.

I present to you the church, the bride of Christ. May we all receive spiritual discernment, gentleness and an increase in humility. In the same that we have to adjust our conversation around children, may we be able to discern spiritual babes. May we be able to discern the broken-hearted and crushed in spirit, may we see the weakness of others to help not to shame, to bring life not condemnation.

I pray you give us the grace needed to deal with those believers who who do not bring peace or seek peace, but rather fight, insult and accuse others all the time, with reason and at other times without reason. I pray you would help to rebuke in love to those who are self centered, hasty and dramatic. May we learn to test the spirits and look at the inner man in others. May each of us accept our own wrongs, and the responsibility for our lives.

I pray we seek you first to make decisions over our lives. You said in your word that we would suffer afflictions for being Christians. We would suffer for not bowing to other gods, and also to deny our flesh from its selfish ways. May we not be afraid to speak up and declare why we have in you. May we not shrink down when threats come our way or even when we are oppressed physically, mentally or spiritually, feeling enslaved by the enemy! We know that you use these times to purify our hearts and to test our faith, may we be found as pure gold. May we not utter negative slurs, curse words or complaints but instead may we be found faithful, until the point of death itself.
May we be found like the church in Philadelphia, even having little strength may we keep your word and uphold your name at all times. May our enemies fall before us, and recognize that you are God and that you have loved us. May you also keep us from the tribulation, as your church says may we be raptured.

And Lord God, as I prayed in the last few posts, may we hold on to what we have, so that no one will take our crown. May we be taught of your Spirit to live a victorious life. In Jesus name, Amen.
