Devotional 6/19

For you are recognizing [more clearly] the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

Jesus did not come to make bad people good, He came to make dead people alive.

We deserved punishment for our sins, yet God looked at us with eyes of mercy. He gave His son and made a trade, His life for ours. There is nothing fair about what God accomplishes for us on the cross, we do not even deserve it.

The holiest person, still cannot deserve the love of God. The grace of God reached us, even while we were dead in sin. His kindness, His generosity and His favor, came packaged in a trade off. We are rich, as blessed in abundance, not in material blessings necessarily but in spiritual things.

We have the truth of God which makes us free. We have peace with God when before we had war with God. We have received justification instead of condemnation. And our hearts were changed from cold hearts to compassionate hearts.

I remember receiving Christ and immediately I was able to see the difference between good and evil. I remember forgiving others even when they did not deserve forgiveness. And I remember that I began to love people without expecting their love in return. I also remember knowing that God was against drinking, sexual sins and all types of fortune telling. It was all new to me, but Nobody needed to tell me or show me in the Bible, these were things that God revealed to me at once.

I remember being on fire for God, and desiring everyone to experience what I had experienced. I recall receiving wisdom to answer tough questions because I didn’t have to rely on my human intellect, but in God’s all knowing Spirit. And I also remember that I was wholeheartedly committed to God, whatever He said I would do and wherever He’d send I would go. I remember that I was no longer afraid of death, because somehow I knew that if Jesus Christ resurrected then I would too.

The Lord paid a price for our bodies, by the stripes on His back we were healed and by the blood of the lamb we were cleansed of sins and all types of curses. And as much money, sex, drugs or fun we can have without the spiritual blessings we have received life would be so empty. Do you remember being empty before Christ, because you knew there was something missing from your life? What about the times that Holy Spirit consoled you or directed you, where would you be without Him? Remember praying and receiving ideas, healing, direction? Remember the first prayers God answered?

We can get so wrapped up in life, that we overlook the cross. We can get so caught up in keeping rules and being successful in being religious, that we take grace for granted. It’s always good to go back and remember that Jesus died for our sins, and that by His blood we have become His property. We have been translated from spiritual kingdoms, we were once slaves of Satan but now we are seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. We have been given authority in Christ, because He is the head of all principality and power. He was given all power in heaven and on earth. And He has awakened us to eternity, not to consciousness, not to astral powers of the universe and not to spiritual guides… but to eternity with the creator of all that is invisible and all that is seen.

Let’s pray:

King Jesus, take us to the cross. Stir up in us the first love and the fire of that love. I pray this for all believers. I pray this for all those who believe in a higher power, and in other gods, may they come to know You king Jesus, Son of the Most High God. I ask you to send your angels to minister to those who are to inherit salvation, and lead them to you Almighty, Wonderful, Savior. I prophecy to the four winds that the dead bones will come alive, not by might, not by power, but by your Spirit. In the name of Jesus Nazareth, Amen.
