But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1
I was telling my congregation that I had been walking with the Lord for 20 years; Then I heard the Holy Spirit say “what are you talking about, you have been walking with me for 2 years and I HAVE BEEN DRAGGING YOU FOR 18“.
I think Joyce Meyer, is one of the most transparent individuals today. And I appreciate her rawness, she reminds me of me. The bible tells us over and over again, do not fear, have faith, trust God, cast your cares, calm down, humble yourself before God… yet we are like stubborn children as we insist on doing things our way, or crying about what we want.
Only you and God know what things you need to change, but if you are struggling in ANY area with God, it is because you are believing a lie in that area. And yes that tells me that we need to reprogram our minds. As easy as it sounds, it can be a long and arduous process for different reasons, but it is possible: especially through God’s power which works in us and through us and WITH us!
I’ll never forget a joke my first pastor said about our bad habits and lifestyles: you are friends with devils. When they are cast out, you’ve been with them so long, that you feel lonely without them and go out looking for them!
The thing is that we are what we’re used to, we are accustomed to things and they become normal to us. It’s time we put on a new normal! They worked for us in the past, but have you ever considered… that you have grown out of many mindsets? Most of what we believe is true, comes from a place of self regard, self protection and even self love. Although it is good to love ourselves, we must love God more than we love ourselves (and this life!).
Another reason, I can think of as to why we hold on to wrong paradigms, is because we have related with our friends and loved ones through them. We have bonded with people who shared our same beliefs, but sadly people are like clothes in a sense. When we outgrow clothes, we get rid of them, and get ourselves new ones. Maybe it is time that we associate with different people, with different mindsets.
I like something that Tony Robbins teaches, he says that when we are confused it is a good thing because our belief patterns are being challenge and it is the precise moment to change the belief. We will need courage to change our belief systems for the better, and we will also need
Heavenly Father, I look up to you in this time of immediate and necessary change. I pray for those who are praying for a new life, I ask you to show them where they can begin. I pray for those who feel stuck, may you redirect them and show them the opportunities right before their eyes. I pray for those people who are having, and have been having intense family problems- help them Jesus to break free from culture and tradition, and give them a new way to see and manage their situations. I pray for protection and courage. Even if it takes some time, may they have an epiphany that will change their life. I pray for those who do not feel good about themselves, or who do not think they are normal- Lord you know that we all have issues, and you have made us to be unique. May we flourish into the people that we are supposed to be, and not hold on to who we were in the past. I pray you give us all the strength, the love and the tenacity which life requires of us, in order to see the future in an optimistic way. We are grateful for your care, your guidance and comfort. Thank you for giving us advice, and telling us of what will come next to our lives, prepare our hearts and fill us with capacity to be focused and humble. In Jesus name, Amen.
