Devotional 7/5

Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.  I and the Father are one.” John 10:25-30

I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.
Martin Luther

Whenever I start to freak out about whether I’m saved anymore or not, I come back to the comforting words of Jesus. You are in my hands baby girl, and nobody can snatch you out of my hand. We may not fully understand God, and even mistake Him to being a bipolar schizophrenic deity- but God knows what is going on at all times. He knows when we will be ostracized by family, and He knows how to work what the enemy meant for evil to something good- like Joseph. Even when we mess up, God warns us of the enemy’s plan like Peter.

God gives us a spiritual life, a life of grace, of fellowshipping with His Holy Spirit which leads us into eternal life. And we do not choose Christ, He first chooses us and draws our hearts to Him. God is like a man who proposes to take a woman’s hand in marriage, He does not force us to stay with Him. We are convinced of sin, and our need for Jesus when we are convinced by the Spirit of God- not by our logic or emotions! We have all heard of atheist, Muslim, and new age spiritist’s converting to Jesus Christ- this is not because of our own will, or intent… but by God’s power. See the source image

To be in the hands of God or Christ, because remember they are ONE (John 10:30), means that he favors and esteems us highly. The word says we are tattooed into the palms of His hands,  allows us to understand that we are HIS possession, under His guidance and in His protection. It may seem that the enemy has more authority over our lives, but even with permission the devil can not snatch us away from God. God is GREATER than all powers and principalities, and remember Jesus Christ is the head of these. God is greater than the lies the enemy can throw our way, He is more powerful than demonic attacks and He can work through the silly choices we make! God is constant, the Lord Jesus promised us that He would never leave us and never forsake us; but we can decide to leave Him.

And I think I should mention, that God is a person. He experiences emotions, reasons, and makes decisions but God’s character does not change.

Let’s pray:

My Lord, My God, redeemer and Savior. You are awesome my God, you are indescribable and your works are marvelous in our eyes. Today I ask you to touch our hearts, give us security in You. We all experience life, it’s darkness, our setbacks, strongholds and disappointments and could fall into the lies of the devil which would cause us to believe that we are unredeemable. I pray for those who have felt or are feeling insecure in their relationships with You, worried that we could be knocked out of God’s love and family. We are sons and daughters of God, we are your sheep: and we know your voice, and no other voice will we follow.  In Jesus name, Amen.
