Jesus saw them and said, “Go. Show yourselves to the priests.” While they were on the way, they were healed….Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?”Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:14, 17-19
In God’s hands even the things which have broken us, can be used by Him to make us whole.
For many, the idea of God is incorrect. We claim that God is good, yet negative things happen. He is all knowing, but condemns sin. He is a healer, but only heals whomever He wants. God is perfect, but He created Satan and sinful humans (Adam and Eve). But if we should know anything about God, is that He desires to save us and make us whole. God knows the condition of our hearts, when we are grateful and humble towards Him He works on our behalf. The Lord wants to save our souls, and to rescuethose who humble themselves before Him:
- humbled, because of their awareness of a fallen nature
- humbled, by the guilt of sin or wrong decisions
- humbled, by acknowledging God’s all knowing, all powerful and holy ways
The Lord rejoices in saving us, which is why He pays close attention to those who are brokenhearted. Life can wound us through people, and the events which simply occur. Although many are broken, God does desire for us to become whole. God omnipresent, and does not skip over those who suffer. He wants to heal, mend and restore us. Many have experienced so much in life, that it can feel like life is a boxing ring: continuously fighting, as we try not to give up. Some feel like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders, causing suffering which overwhelms, frustrates or causes shame. Suffering causes us to wonder why negative things happen to us, will we ever be happy, and even lose the desire to live or to be with others; but God wants to make us whole.
The Greek word for whole-ness is sojo.God wants to save those who suffer, from torment, persecution, from His own wrath and judgement and from physical afflictions like disease. Wholeness is greater than receiving a healing, it is complete restoration: meaning our entire being, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states of our being. Being made whole is restoration of what you have lost, while healing is only a work where healing was needed- but not being made complete. When God restores us to wholeness, He restores a thing/person/ situation back to their original state.
Can you believe God wants and will make you whole? He wants to renew our firmness, consistency and commitment to God.
The book Perfect Lies: Overcoming Nine Hidden Beliefs That Stand between You and a Healthy, Joy-Filled Life helped me reprogram my mind, back in 2015. Hope it blesses you!
Most High and All Powerful God, I can before you in the name of Jesus, please mend our broken hearts, restore our lives and heal us in every area of our being. Make your presence known to us, show us love Lord. May your love wash us and make us whole. In Jesus name, Amen.
