Devotional 8/23

You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. Psalm 65:11

If you allow your rhythm to be interrupted, you’ll create a void. Then to replace what you give up, you’ll start to expect and need more from others.

What’s on your mind, what are you preoccupied with? Life is a rollercoaster, but it’s up to us to enjoy the ride. You are the main character in your life, and it’s you who makes all of the decisions.  It’s a given that life doesn’t pan out the way you wanted, planned or expected it to. We all have expectations and although we have progressed in different ways, we are not exactly where we want to be in life. But you are still the main character of your movie.

The key is to remind yourself of what you want out of life and keep your focus on that vision. If you do not have a vision for your life then do that first. Go back to basics: what was your passion as a child? What would you do if money was not an issue? what do you do instinctively? I know that I am called to encourage, to teach and counsel because it’s what I do whether I get acknowledged or recompensed for it.  I’ve been drawn to expressing myself creatively since I was a child. These things are my passion, and I do them freely and naturally. See the source image

Your vision is your ideal life (or business). It is the big picture of what you want for yourself, which is not to be mistaken with a wish. A vision tells you where you want to be, and based on this you can determined how to get there. You need to know your mission in the world, in order to create objectives: what problems are you looking to solve and how will you do this?

And after you start working on this, you must determine your focus and be real with yourself as how much work and time it will take to reach your goals. I can tell you from experience, that you will be distracted by life, responsibilities, people around you, emotions, bad decisions… and so much more. But as I like to remind myself, momentum depends on our focus and perception.

If you know where you are headed you will know who to take with you. And you will know to improve and add to, your skillset and capabilities. Remember, adjust your expectations if you must, and learn to trust the process.

Let’s pray:

Lord God Almighty, eternal and wonderful father. Our times are in your hands, I ask for forgiveness for every time we have allowed ourselves to be distracted or overwhelmed by minimal and vain things. Holy Spirit, we invite you into our lives and our homes so that you remove any thing/one that is of negative influence to us, causes us to stumble, or is a barrier keeping us from courageously walking in purpose. I pray you help each of us to manage our time better, say no to projects which steal our energy and increase our drive to go after our purpose in this life. I ask that you increase our levels of wisdom, discernment and clarity.  In crease our self efficacy and may we make time for our projects every day persistently and consistently. In Jesus name, Amen.
