Devotional 8/31

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. Genesis 12:3

If you have a problem with Israel,
your problem is not with Israel but with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The world has always had a problem with Israel. But the bible says that those who curse Israel, God will curse. And those who bless Israel God will bless. We know that Abraham is the father of faith. Abraham had 2 kids, Ishmael and Isaac. God told Abraham that through Him all the nations of the world would be blessed: through the sons of Abraham, both Ishmael and Isaac the world would be blessed. But the bible also said that there would be enmity, strife between the brothers: as Ishmael would life his fist against Isaac. This is true even until today, since the Muslim (seed of Ishmael) do not believe that Isaac is the promised child, as the Jews and Christians believe.

Those who denied the Lord, withered away from the Father and made space for us: Christians are the engrafted branches of Israel (Romans 11). Those who curse or bless us will receive the same. The interesting thing about it is that ever since I could remember Israel has been hated and under serious persecution. Israel has a good economy, democratic views, no separation of church and state, and have seriously survived years and years of persecution (from biblical times and still today).  See the source image

I remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank and Angela’s Ashes which tell of the Israeli struggle in dealing with the centuries of hate against them. Some claim it is over politics, but it is over land and it was decreed by God thousands of years ago. God chose them to be His representatives, and scribes. The Lord also brought the Messiah of the world through Israel. And through Israel the world will be blessed. Why would Satan treat them favorably? He hates us all, especially those on God’s side

Even when all the nations are against Israel, God takes care of His people, He fights for them. The bible tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and to bless Israel so that we may be blessed and prosperous. If we love the Lord Yahweh, then we cannot do so without also loving the nation of Israel. And If we love the Lord, it is almost impossible to be at peace with people who hate Israel. God continues to bring His people together, from all around the world.

Let’s pray:

Jehovah, you are the king immortal, the everlasting father, the Almighty. We do not need to understand your reasons, we simply need to trust and believe that you are on our side. You mean us no harm, and we can trust that you are true. You are the God of Israel, the Rock of our salvation and our Redeemer. I pray you remove the veil from their eyes to see that Jesus Christ is their redeemer, the savior of the world. You promised them in your word that you would bring them back to their land, and that a new temple would be built, I pray these promises continue to be fulfilled. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and the wisdom of all their politicians and authority figures. May you continue to show them favor, and mercy.  I pray this for Israel, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
