Devotional 9/18

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8

To trust God in the light is nothing, but to trust God in the dark.. that is faith.
C.H. Spurgeon

Lord God Almighty, today I come before you to ask you for a heart of trust. May we not be afraid to love again, and even trust. We know your word says that we ought to trust you with all of our hearts, and trust you by obeying your precepts.

I pray for your Holy Spirit to strengthen us to trust you in all circumstances. I pray for forgiveness, for all the times we have acted with distrust towards you. We do not want to be like the Israelites who tested you with their complaints and criticisms, and faithless demandsWe come before you knowing that if we refuse to trust You, we may bring unto our lives some ugly consequences and even deny your will to manifest in our lives.

See the source imageYou are worthy of our trust. Unlike us, You alone are God, and YOU do not ever lie.

Your plans and purposes stand Lord. And you work all things for our good, we trust that you are for us and not against us. You have good prosperous plans for us, you have no plans to hurt us nor to destroy us. May our confidence in you grow daily. May we know you in a greater and more profound way, as we continue to grow in you.

Your word says that we should not trust ourselves, because our hearts are deceitfully wicked and human wisdom is fleshly and wicked. I pray for you to also touch our hearts when it comes to trusting others, we many have been betrayed, disappointed or heartbroken in one way or another- but I ask you to help us trust others as well.

You also judge those who trust in men and their chariots; we trust you Lord. We trust you for our income, not our supervisors or our jobs. We trust you for our health, not the doctors, nor medicine. May we trust you in any situation which we may have to endure.

You are faithful, even we are unfaithful. I pray we would all continue to experience Your grace, goodness, favor and faithfulness every day of our lives.

You are unpredictable, but you are reliable, and YOU ARE WISDOM. You are unchanging, sovereign, All Knowing, All Powerful, merciful, and the Just God. Help us to believe that you intentions for us are good, and we thank you for an increase of trust and confidence in you.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
