“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Genesis 3:1
The devil wants to see you damned!
The Bible says that Satan is shrewd. Shrewd means slick, conniving, clever… and all with selfish motives. Did you know Satan has a plan for your life? One of the main reasons is to prevent any and all of us from reaching God’s dream for our lives. Satan knows that God’s plan is to overcome him indefinitely. Once Satan is overcome, then we can live in total unison with God sharing in His peace, joy, freedom and eternal life. Satan lost his opportunity back when he began to compare himself with God Almighty, and he will do all that is in his power to keep us from walking into what was once his.
The Bible gives us many principles, and precepts to live by. These are for our wellbeing, but also for our own protection. The moment we go against God’s mandated precepts, we open doors for the enemy to enter our lives. Not only will Satan enter our lives, but he will put into motion his will for our lives and hinder God’s work.
The Bible tells us to speak the truth and to stop lying. The Bible says that we belong to one another, it’s as if the eyes was to speak ill or against the nose: they will not be able to work in synergy. He also tells couples to not let anger come between them, so that their prayers are not hindered. The enemy desires to silence those who speak the word of God and lead people into His righteousness- so he knows how to use our emotions and human nature to do so!
Another things which Satan tries to do is to hinder our spiritual progress, he does this by tricking out into believing any lie which suits our level of perception at the time. David used a slingshot, and 5 stones to defeat the 5 giants (Goliath and his brothers). But moments prior, Saul had him wear his armor. David was able to withstand deception in this instance was because he had a good understanding of who God was and who He was in the desert (while fighting lions and bears off his sheep). David took off the armor and relied on God’s strength for the outcome, and was victorious. Another person who’s spiritual progress was aborted (worse than hindered) is Lot’s wife. Lot and his family ran for their life, the angels told them not to look back- but Lot’s wife did! She was not able to move forward because she could not let go of her past. Remember the storm that arose as Jesus crossed over to deliver the Gadarene? That storm was Satan’s plan to stop Jesus from freeing the Gadarene who was possessed by a multitude of bad spirits, named Legion. And what about Paul crossing over to Rome, where he and the prisoners were shipwrecked? How about when the snake latched on to his hand? These were attempts of Satan to hinder God’s work!
Satan also opposes the saints, in his attempts to steal their faith in God and His word. He either preoccupies us with worries and cares, or he influences our minds so that we harden our hearts to resist God and His ways! But our God overcame Satan!
With God every attack can end with good news! The good news is that God fights for His saints, if and when we come to Him for help. Even when we fail to realize what gave Satan power to touch us, God will reveal it to us and restore us back as if it never happened. The Lord is faithful, even when we are not. Glory to the Most High!
Lord God Almighty, all powerful God, you are our shield and our buckler. You are our defender and mighty rock, on which we can stand. We thank you for deliverance, we thank you for your wisdom and strategy and we thank you for being our banner against the devil and his wicked schemes! I pray for those who are battling with deception and hindrances and I ask you to deliver them as well. Fight for your children God. Thank you for your faithfulness. In Jesus name, Amen.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1
