Devotional 10/31

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints; Ephesians 1:18

There are certain things that you can only learn about God, through suffering.

After much research and experience, I have concluded that Christians cannot be possessed by evil spirits. There are certain parts in us, where demons can manipulate our lives, but this is not to say that they can own us. The way to overcome demonic oppression is to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God, and choose to walk in love and in faith.

If you notice that you are experiencing continuous ups and downs in your spiritual walk, and do not understand what is going on in your life, you may be under demonic oppression. If you notice that you are a studious person in the word, diligent in prayer, church attendance, and you search your heart often to be found blameless before God- and you continue to experience situations where you need deliverance… you may be under demonic attack. We may all need some type of deliverance, which all require God’s power. The carnal nature, requires humility, submission and self discipline. Heart issues, like emotional brokenness or anger require self reflection, humility and supernatural healing followed by self development. And spiritual oppression, which are uncontrollable incidents and addictive behavior which requires confession, repentance and God’s intervention.

We can be saved and spirit filled yet have these kind of struggles. As I mentioned yesterday one of the most successful tactics of Satan, is to exhaust us. We do battle a lot as Christians, but we must also know how and when to rest.  I have heard some preachers downplay the believer’s struggle, assuming that there is a lack of faith, conviction, knowledge or acknowledgment of God… but this is not the case for demonic oppression. Remember Job, he had faith, he had integrity and he had reverence for God. But the enemy was causing great havoc in his life. Some oppressive spirits are resentment, mind control (identity issues), homosexuality, apathy, depression, lust (addictive), self destructive vices, and so many more… and God can use these battles with Satan to bring us closer to Him and know Him better.

The good thing is that God has a strategy for every attack, if we would only submit our will to HIM, and He gives us the victory!

  • Ask God if your struggles are from demonic oppression
  • Ask God to open your eyes so that you know what you are fighting
  • Admit that you are experiencing spiritual blindness or confusion
  • Confess, and renounce all hindrances and past affiliation with wickedness
  • Feed yourself on the scriptures and build your faith
  • PRAY! The Lord is faithful, and listens to the cry of His children

We need to stand in faith, and tell the devil and his minions to get out of our lives. We need to believe what the word says about us: we are hidden in Christ, and we are seated in heavenly places: we are in God’s hands and no one can snatch us out of His grip.

Let’s pray:

Father God, thank you for your awesome love and power. For your protection and your quickening, you are always right on time Lord. Although we do not know why we must go through certain things as followers of Christ, we thank you for the journey. You have not failed us, and you never will. I pray for each believer in the entire world, show us our most vulnerable areas, the weakest areas of our lives. And help us submit these areas to you. May we all be filled with your Spirit’s courage, boldness, and conviction. May we be slow to anger, and swift to repent. May we be wise to close doors, and diligent in prayer. In Jesus name, Amen.
