Devotional 11/8

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

We need worship for our spirit, fellowship for our soul, and committed subservience for our body. Larry Norman

I am a Christian because I believe that Jehovah God, sent Jesus Christ to redeem and restore our souls from the possession of Satan. I believe Jesus Christ sent the Comforter to heal and continue the work which God began in us.
In order for God to continue and complete the work He has begun in us, we ought to be obedient to His word. There is a part of being obedient to God which requires fellowship and love. Love requires sacrifice:
  • We may not want to wake up early to go to church on our only day to rest… sacrifice!
  • We may not be compatible with some church people, but must we fellowship… sacrifice!
  • We may be afraid of being judged by others, but we must put God first… sacrifice!
  • God will always speak to a hungry heart, and the church is one place where God delivers His message and vision for our lives. The bible says that we should not stop congregating as many make a custom. And some people say that they are the church… but there is power in going to church. The church is a great place to celebrate your relationship with God! It is a place to have a party for God. I love to attend church to receive the Word of God as well. We read our bibles in our alone time as well, but there are lazy days, busy days, discouraging days and downright I’m reading to read days!
The Lord doesn’t expect us to do life by ourselves, which is why He calls us into a community called church. Here we can learn from others, share and support one another. Church is usually the place where we can find people who are on the same team: we desire to go with Jesus, save souls and fight against the devil! Grow in church!
    Let’s pray:
Almighty and sovereign God, your word says that if we call out to you, You will respond, and show us great things which we did not know about. So today I ask you to show us, the reason for fellowship and who these people are in our lives. I pray even for those people who have been disappointed or betrayed by church folk, and ask you to redirect them to a healthy church. May we not look for perfect people in any church, but may we have mercy on each individual we meet. In Jesus name, Amen.
