Devotional 11/10

Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them. Isaiah 43:7

It’s not the load that breaks you down. Its the way you carry it.
C.S Lewis

God doesn’t need you or me, He doesn’t need our worship, or our money. But He does call for our obedience. He commands us to serve and worship, and to be generous with our money. But why if He does not need any of these things? God is in the human services business. He is a doctor, a counselor, and a teacher. Imagine that.

God is able to reveal Himself to all men, despite age, race, location or history. Our obedience to God and His glory speaks to all peoples and connects them to God. It all depends on your level of obedience.

I heard this testimony about this lady that was driving and she felt God tell her to stop by the gas station and do a handstand. And she was like ???? But she went and did it and a person who worked there went up to her and was like “what are you doing??” And she said, “I don’t know. It’s weird but I felt led to do this.” Turns out, that the guy was going to kill himself that day and challenged God. He ask God to prove that He was real and if He was to have someone come and do a handstand.

We are participants in God’s glory, but ultimately our obedience points back to Him. God will tell us to do something and it is usually not for us but for others. Serving God is not about us as we make it out to be. The Lord will tell you to do something that you’re completely unfamiliar with and we can say no, but as slaves of Christ, in surrender it’s best to just say yes and trust Him. Doing God’s will brings us joy, and the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Remember serving God is more than church, more than worship songs… serving God is a heart disposition. Serving God is bringing Him glory by our lifestyles.

Let’s pray:

Lord God Almighty, we come before you in the name of Jesus. I ask you to help us keep our altars clean and in order. May we continue to grow in Your word. And helps others grow in You as well. I pray that after you have tried us by fire, that you may approve us as well. In Jesus name, Amen.
