Devotional 11/13

Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; even today I declare that I will restore to you double. Zechariah 9:12

The more you pray, the less you’ll panic. The more you worship, the less you worry. You’ll feel more patient and less pressured.

Rick Warren

We can hope in the LOVE which the Most High has for us. We do not look for a way out, or for God to liberate us from everything: we know that God fights for us, and in other battles He fights with us too. The word says that Hope does not disappoint. And it also tells us why… Hope does not disappoint because God poured His love into our hearts.

Followers of Christ are marked for battle. Hope tells us that we will grow from every battle, and that we will get to know a side of God that we never knew before. In a strange way, I understand that hope goes a long way in the life of the believer. The Lord teaches us that hope is an anchor to our souls. So if we are able to hope, then we are able to love, and if we love then we are able to walk by faith. See the source image

The prophet Zachariah tells the people of Israel, to get ready!

  • Return to the stronghold, or your place of safety or defense. (THE LORD is Our Stronghold!)
  • you prisoners of hope; God is speaking specifically to those who don’t lose hope, even when they feel strange, far away, bound, or anxious. Those who know hope personally, and keep moving forward in the Spirit.
  • even today: RIGHT NOW!
  • I declare: The one who created the universe by the word of His mouth!
  • that I will restore to you double:

When God calls us to endurance and perseverance, He calls us to a time of discipline. He wants us to develop hope, faith and love. But these are cultivated in us, like a farmer cultivates his work. Cultivation is the act of caring for or raising plants. Farmers take care of crops, by stirring the soil between the rows of vegetable plants. It is necessary to stir, because weeds will grow unless the are killed before they break through the soil.

Let’s pray:

Lord God, we are your slaves. We are slaves to hope. Even when we see no point in living, we have hope. We believe that your Love won’t disappoint us. I pray for all believers around the world, and ask you to flip the switch of hope on. I pray you give us new perspectives, and may the light of your hope lighten our paths. In Jesus name, Amen.
