Devotional 12/9

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

Carefully I threw you into the right spot. Your imperfections are being smoothed as you spin, by the loving pressure of my hands. I am holding you, and molding you: proud and pleased with my creation. And the fire, will only enhance your beauty.

The Lord has a blueprint for your life. It may sound cliche, but He does: He’s the great architect. Jehovah is a loving and responsible Father, He does not allow us to walk into His high calling overnight. He teaches us through processes, that He must be our foundation, our reason for being, and the first in our lives.

I always refer to a TD Jakes analogy when speaking of God’s order and process for our lives! He once gave an example of standing with his 7 year old son, in front of his bathroom mirror while shaving. He considered the idea of teaching his son about shaving. He saw that his son was not able to handle a razor responsibly and would harm himself, and decided to wait a few years to do so.

The Father, God, works with us in similar ways. He knows if we are ready to walk into His calling, into a new job or other responsibilities. As His loved ones, His dear children He has us processed. It’s like a potter making a statue, or a carpenter making any piece of furniture. A potter makes clay, designs it’s shape, uses extreme heat to remove all water and humidity and then polishes it. From watching my uncles, I learned that carpenters cut the wood, polish it with sand paper, drill holes into it, glue it together, and shine it. We too have to be processed!

The fruit of the process brings about growth, maturity and transformation assigned to us. Spiritual maturity is a lifelong process of becoming like Christ! We are changed in one sense, but we must also work out our salvation. The Lord is unique with each of us, and uses different ways for each person… and His timing is defined by Him alone! As long as we cooperate with God in prayer and learning His word, and yielding to inner promptings then we will allow Him to move us from level 1, to level 2, and so on.

God loves us! Focus on Him, focus on right nowwhat are you learning about God? What are you learning about yourself? Focus on the right things and let Him work in you that which will bring Him glory and praise.

Let’s pray:

Thank you my God. Although the process hurts sometimes, and it seems more than we signed up for, it is for our own benefit and your glory. After all we are your masterpieces in the making. Thank you for qualifying us, and for giving us the processing that we need to become who you are calling us to be. In Jesus name, Amen!
