Devotional 12/24

Then he said,“I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3-4

Children see magic because they look for it.
Christopher Moore

Our society, much of the world rather, places great emphasis on the big and exciting moments. Which can make everyday life in comparison seem like a drag. There is an obsessive need to be constantly entertained, thrilled and emotionally triggered. And many wish for a future moment, person, place or thing… to make them feel alive or significant.

This is is no way to live! Experiencing life as a child in this world may be a new adventure for you:

  • Thinking of new things to do
  • Meeting me challenges
  • Taking on new experiences

Children are extremely genuine and honest. One things I admire about children is the crazy things that come out of their mouths. They have no sense of shame when they get ready to share their thoughts and opinions; it makes me giggle, chuckle and sometimes burst out laughing! They have no mental beliefs limiting their ability to express themselves or their ideas. Children do not allow anything or anyone to keep them from having fun, and they have fun with absolutely anything!

Are we so adult, where we take life too serious? Have we become all-knowing, dismissing that there is always something new to learn? Are you curious about life? Are you coachable? Do you have a sense of exploration? Do you want to learn more?

I usually remember this scripture when I work with the children in my church. I believe the Lord wants us to be pure, silly, random, unashamed, receptive and unreserved! And I also believe that the Lord wants us to be open and free to love, and even cry if we feel overwhelmed with emotion! Why be an adult with your ABBA Father?

Let’s pray:

Father God, we come before you as little children recognizing that we may be too caught up in being responsible adults or mature believers, and have forgotten to be like children. I pray for curiosity and excitement. I ask you for a heart to trust without limitation, and a mindset with disposition to explore what you have placed before us. I pray that we may be able to enjoy the simple pleasure of life, and share love and joy with others with the innocence that children do. In Jesus name, Amen.
