Devotional 12/27

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Matthew 12:50

God doesn’t ask you to hard things so He can stand back and laugh and watch you struggle. He tells you to do things that He knows are gonna work out to your good in the end.

Joyce Meyer

God is not a genie who exists to grant our wishes or even serve us with comfort and blessings. Trusting God is believing that He loves you. God never wastes our time, I say that from experience.

He will use every detail of our past, present and future for His purpose. After all, He alone is sovereign. A lot of people wonder where they fit in, and what their calling is. But there are many factors to consider, including that mission, calling and purpose are different.

  • Purpose (Who): to glorify God and serve others.
  • Calling (What): unique talents and/ or passions which enable/qualify us to do serve according to God’s specific assignment for your life.
  • Mission (How): how will you use your specific talents, passions or abilities/resources to serve others.
  • Speaking to my closest friend last night, I shared my appreciation of God’s love for me. God honored my life by allowing me to do the things I loved in my youth. Ever since I can remember I dreamt of being a singer, actress, dancer and teacher. For decades, behind the scenes I trained myself – without imagining that one day, God would use the very things my family shunned, for His glory and kingdom. Today I serve God in ministry through the performing arts and teaching.
  • We also spoke briefly about the negative things which we had experienced. And we could have gone into a pity party, but I recognized God’s hand over the bad things too. Father God has placed me in a position to counsel, comfort and empower others the way He has taught me to do for myself. The people He has placed in my life are according to the fulfillment of His purpose.

Nothing is wasted by God. What’s your life message? What’s your legacy? What are your favorite subjects in school? Which world or community problems get under your skin? Which jobs or activities have you really enjoyed? What things do you do, regardless of praise, commendation or pay? What have you learned about God? What have you learned about your most painful experiences?

    Let’s pray:

Thank you Most High God. We honor you for your sovereign and faithful ways. I pray you continue to guide us into all truth, and your perfect will. Help us to decipher all that you have placed in us and have qualified us to do. I pray for selfless devotion from each of us to fulfill your calling and mission as you will it. In Jesus name, Amen.
