Devotional 1/6

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong. Hebrews 12:12-13

If I went through what you went through…
I would be in a bad mood too.

It takes faith to press in to God, and also to repent. Faith is not an emotionbecause with faith we react first and then decide to believe with our minds. When we come to God we come by faith, but to persist and remain, we do also, by faith.

The Lord will fulfill His call in our lives, by teaching us to stand firm and brace are emotionally led, we block God’s power from working in and through our lives; and we are easily enslaved to sin. We use faith to learn good doctrine and to worship, but we also need faith to confront the things which block God’s glory from flowing in our lives and especially those things which cause us to sin. It is God’s will that we are conformed to the image of His son, Christ (Romans 8:29).

We’re all different, and stand in different levels of maturity and of faith (conviction) so the Lord does allow us to experiences different circumstances and situations. And the Lord is also well aware of the fact that we may not fully know ourselves. It is necessary to identify our weaknesses and be open to God’s opinion. We should be willing to press in to God, in order to grow and overcome weak areas so that we do not fall. He understands the battles may discourage us, or wear us out: but He also knows us perfectly and knows what in us needs to change or be strengthened.

  • First, identify the character trait that displeases God, and ask for forgiveness
  • Ask God what other things you and He could work on: and humble yourself to ask for forgiveness when He shows you (even if you are ashamed, shocked or in disbelief)
  • Ask God to heal that area
  • Then yield to God’s strategy in healing
  • Ultimately, God is at work in our lives and He makes us whole in His way and according to His timing.

Let’s pray:

Father God, thank you for giving us the ability to change our minds, and to change our lives. I present to you those areas which have been blocking your glory from our lives- and I ask you to heal and transform those areas in Jesus name, Amen!
