Devotional 2/11

I don’t do the good that I want to do. I do the evil that I don’t want to do. Romans‬ ‭7:19‬

Pray, then let it go. Don’t try and manipulate or force the outcome. Just trust God…

The enemy wants for nothing more than for us to live with anger, depression, greed, slander and bound to so many other forms of oppression. Our culture believes it can do whatever and have it all, there is no desire to do things God’s way. Most people don’t even know that God cares about every single detail of their lives, so they do all they can to resolve for themselves.

One of the most heartbreaking things in today’s society is seeing people with so much potential, lack direction and insight, and to observe their questionable personalities. Broken dreams and disloyalty has caused them to become angry people filled with hate and despair. Their passions are mismanaged, and their unfulfilled needs draw them to unhealthy coping mechanisms, like addictions, obsessions and other types of bondage. This is not who God wants us to be!

Disappointments have made our hearts sick too (Prov. 13:12), but as believers we know that God is for us, not against us (Rom. 8:31). The Holy Spirit is living inside of us. His wisdom helps us determine what comes in and out of our lives. He wants to help us make decisions, because not everything we can do or that comes our way, is good for us. Christ died for His creation, to set us free from fear, shame and hate and so that we can live in love, with hope and faith.

The world does not know the Son, Jesus Christ, and it is why they act so freely and without regard. The world does not know what it means to wait on God, or how necessary it is to surrender to God’s will. Instead they strive against God to control the outcomes of their lives, even in the areas where they have no control! As believers, our God defying sin nature (and body) is also ready to take matters into its own hands! But God wants to big things through our hopes and desires, He is not making us wait in vain.

God’s timing is worth the wait! He has the rest of the pieces of the puzzle in place, and He is aligning all of them for the set time of fulfillment!

Let’s pray:

Father God, thank you today and for giving us health, ability and agility. I thank you that your Holy Spirit is always at work. I ask you to develop the fruit of your Spirit in us. May we be the people you intended for us to be: people of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, faith and self-control. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
