Devotional 2/27

Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb. She conceived and bore a son and said, “God has taken away my reproach. Genesis 30:22-23

You’ve got to have a made up mind.

It is impossible to not praise and glorify our God. He is God, He is the Most High, eternal and sovereign God. He is the all knowing, ever present holy God. He is El Roi, the God who sees us. He is Jehovah Shammah, the God who is present with us. He is Jehovah Mekaddesh, the God who sanctifies us. He is Jehovah Shalom, the God of peace and wholeness; nothing missing nothing broken. Jesus, Jehovah our salvation. He is our eternal Rock, our shield and refuge. Jehovah is God.

There are times where we will see others get (with no effort) the very promises God has made to us. These people do not even want what He gives them, yet we must walk through it. Other times, we will see those in disobedience get ahead in their lives, and even seem to get blessed. And wonder, is there something wrong with me? But the Lord cares about our hearts more than most churches speak about. Rachel watching her sister pop up child after child made Rachel feel curse, and envy for her own sister! Hannah felt bitter towards her husbands other wife, Peninnah! And David himself wrote numerous Psalms concerning his perception on the prosperity of those around him! There seems to be no reason why God delays certain blessings for His people, but I’ve learned that it is to show us the condition of our own hearts. We are not God and he isn’t moved by our servant hood but by our conviction, our heart posture and what we sow. We reap blessing upon blessing from those things. Conviction tells God and Satan that we are resilient, we are no matter what happens I will still choose God. Our heart posture is to be submitted, humbled and contrite before God- not angry, bitter, demanding, resentful, pitiful, etc. We sow unto God, not unto people and we will reap whatsoever we sow!

Everything we go through has an expiration date: this too shall pass. And all that God orchestrates is for our hearts to get in line with the truth that He is God. Because even when we fail God, He uses them for our good: when we love God and are called to His purpose. God has placed an investment in us, the seal of His spirit is only the beginning. He has invested scripture, anointing and love in us: He won’t let us down and He won’t give up on us.  The Lord is attentive to our needs, to the desires of our hearts, to the details of our lives and even our emotions when we are feeling downcast! Contemplate the beauty of being known by God!

Be encouraged, and worship the Lord for who He is!

Let’s pray:

Father God today I pray according to Ephesians 3: I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen us with power through the Holy Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. And I pray that being rooted and established in love, we may have power, together with all the LORD’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Eph. 3:17-19) In Jesus name I pray! Amen!
