Devotional 3/5

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ; 2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4-5‬ ‭

Decisions determine destiny.

Have you stopped to see where your thoughts are coming from? What in your heart is causing your mind to think those things!?

Everything can serve as a teaching moment: whether it is reading a billboard on a highway, gazing at someone’s newspaper on the train, listening to the lyrics of a song, or observing nature. We can always take things in and think about them: our subconscious does anyhow and WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION! We feed off of many things, but we also destroy ourselves when we lack insight.

It’s important to self assess and acknowledge where we are in life- we got us here! If we remain in self denial (lack of acceptance, stubbornness and arrogance), then we will cause ourselves to stumble. If we choose the dismissal route, the worldly and carnal coping mechanisms or the rebuke everything syndrome- we will end up layering issue upon issue on ourselves. Some people never take the time to consider that their own choices have gotten them where they are. Each decision we’ve made has altered our destiny, and we must own that. Whether it’s listening to that song, being in a noisy hall way, sleeping with the TV on… these things remain stored somewhere in our being. It is the same with the choices we make. They make not immediately affect us or directly capture our attention in the moment… but they do alter our destiny in some way.

The Bible has the answers to everything, even when it’s not found as easy as google delivers. Did you know that the Bible claimed that the earth was round, while the great scientists of old claimed it was flat? The word of God is never wrong. We are wrong. Whenever you find your thoughts getting the best of you, don’t be so quick to have a panic attack, a pity party or a world war 3 in prayer. Dissect yourself. It’s important to know what u are thinking and what about your day is lingering in your system: so that you can deal with it accordingly.

Let’s pray:

Father God You are wisdom, and I give you glory for the wisdom you give us! Today we present ourselves before your light. I ask you Lord to show us any area in our lives where we have dismissed your word and will, and are now facing uneasiness, frustration or hard times. Forgive us for our ignorance Jesus. I also ask you to show us the choices we’ve made which have birthed our TODAY. I pray for deeper revelation for the causes of any issues we face, so that we may destroy strongholds and uproot that which you did not sow Lord. Give us wisdom to change our realities. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
