Devotional 3/27

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15

If you want to think God’s thoughts,
you must first pray God’s word.

We know that pray is to talk to God. This is the preliminary knowledge we receive of prayer, but as we grow in God… as all things, change comes. Today I want to bring the condition to prayer. The scripture says, if we ask anything He hears us: if what He ask is His will for us. The word of God is the will of God for our lives.

As mature believers, prayer is saying Your will be done, God, not mine. Before we were sealed by the Spirit of God, we did our own will: what our hearts, mind and flesh desired. So now, we should pray the scriptures so that our spirit can agree and so angels are dispatched. It is not important to cite the scripture, but it is important that the scriptures are in their correct context and application.

This is how it look to pray according to the will of God:

Father God, I your word says that I am the head and not the tail: You said that we are lenders and not borrowers. I ask you to help me encourage myself like David did. And I also ask you to remember me like you remembered Hannah, while she was being tormented and mocked by Peninnah. I ask you to do a quick work in me like you did with Saul, when he had a divine encounter with the 3 prophets, where he was filled of your Spirit and prophesied. I ask these favors in Jesus name. Amen.

The scriptures used above are from: Deuteronomy 28:13 and 15:16; and 1 Samuel 30:6, 1:6-16 and 10:10. We lift up prayer because we know God hears us, and He longs to glorify Himself in our lives. May God give you lots of things to testify about!

Let’s pray:

God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob we come before you for help. We ask that you teach us your ways, and your will. May we pray, act and walk in agreement with your word. may your word wash us clean. may your word create a new heart in us. Lord I ask you to give us strategies to live from glory to glory and grow from faith to faith. Consume our filth by your consuming fire, and fight our battles, you are our victorious warrior. Thank you for all your love, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
