Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Faith in the face of the enemy!
Did you know that our minds process 50-70 thousand thoughts in a day? We all struggle with our thoughts.
It’s a result from Adam and Eve’s disobedience. In the beginning, they walked and talked with God. They didn’t have knowledge of good and evil, and quite honestly they didn’t need it! They were in a perfect to world! Adam and Eve were lured by Satan, and gave away their authority and special connection with God.
Today through Jesus Christ, we have access to have an intimate relationship with God. We don’t have to accept the things Satan sends our way. Jesus sacrifice was enough. He was slained as an offering to God, and redeemed us. Redemption:
- the buying back of something
- deliverance from sin and freedom from captivity
We have authority in Christ, and God is with us. The enemy is a seducer, he lures and threatens, but we get to choose what we believe. In 2 Kings 19, king Hezekiah received a letter from the enemy; which could make anybody question their security in God. The enemy said, we’ve defeated many nations and where was their god? Your God is no different, you are no big deal to us and we will defeat you: just like we beat all the other nations. One significant thing made all the difference: Hezekiah had confidence in His God. He ripped his clothes and presented the letter to the Lord in prayer. The prophet Isaiah said to them, don’t be afraid of what you heard, I have a plan.
Hezekiah may have felt fear, but he did not let the enemy make a nest on his head. He did not worry about it, instead he took his worries to God! That’s exactly what we should do! The enemy will send threats, or will tempt by intimidation, seduction or doubt: but we have an awesome God who we can call on. What is Satan trying to scare you with? A diagnosis, a lay off, a break up?
Don’t let him move you, stand your ground and fear not! God is still on the throne, and He has a plan!
Lord God you already shamed the enemy and his powers and principalities at the cross. You shed you blood and redeemed us. May we know that you are El Roi, the God who sees us: You are Jehovah Nissi, He who raises a standard against our enemies: You are Jehovah Shammah, our God of peace. May our convictions be centered on you. In Jesus name, Amen.
