Devotional 4/28

But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

I AM who God says I am.

What is your identity in Christ? Who are u? What in Christ, or in the word of God do identify with? Are you seated in heavenly places with Christ or do you belong to this world? Are you filled with Holy Ghost power?

The Bible says a lot about our identity. We can easily identify with the world, for instance: I’m a Hispanic New Yorker, and I am a single wealthy female. But what does God say? As you read the word, there should be identity markers which jump out at you: yes! This is me! The Bible says we are children of God, overcomes in Christ, friends of God and much more. It also calls each and every single one of us, worshippers and intercessors.

1 John 4:4 says, the spirit of God lives in us, and HE is greater than he who is in the world. Therefore, I identity myself as being a spirit filled believer who overcomes all my spiritual enemies which are sent from Satan! If we know who we are by where we are from, how we look and the things we do- Satan can convince us that we are not good enough, that we are powerless and that we are hell bound. Knowing our identity is warfare! The word of God tells us who we are by faith in Christ, but tests prove our identity. We can memorize and confess scripture: but it must be tried. Our identity is like the word of God; it becomes real when we walk in its revelation. Do you believe God about who you are? Do you believe people, the world, your circumstances, Satan?

  • You are the righteousness of God, because Jesus Christ died to make you right with God!
  • You are a child of God, a friend of God and His servant.
  • You are an overcomer, because your faith has overcome this world!

Let’s pray:

Thank you lord for giving us your perfect design. Today I ask you to develop and prune our identity according to your purpose. May we be who you say we are, and may we do what you say we can do! I pray this simple prayer in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
