Now when Joshua was by Jericho, he looked up, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” Joshua 5:13
On the way …
Have you ever wondered if what is going on in your Life is from the hand of God or from Satan? Have you ever stopped to observe the people around you and wonder if they are for you, or against?
Joshua had experienced so much, he wondered if the person in front of him was for him or against him. Joshua did not know it was God, and God wasn’t offended! He did not know that this man was The Angel of the Lord, and would tell Him how he would overtake Jericho!
Welcome to a new season!
- Be open, don’t be close minded: God will reveal Himself to you in a new way!
- Be bold, do not be afraid to meet new people!
- Be direct, not timid to ask them: are you for me or against me!?
- Be obedient, not careless, to the direction and strategies of the Lord!
Remember, the Israelites knew God was taking them somewhere, but they didn’t know where they were going or when they would get there. On the way to the Promised Land, they spent years in the wilderness, they waited on God to feed them and to get them to their destination, they fought many battles, and now they had to be circumcised! The Lord told Joshua to circumcise the Israelites, and he obeyed. God instituted this practice as a symbol of sacrifice to Him, that His people were separated and devoted to Him. After a few days of celebrating the Passover, Joshua was looking in the direction of Jericho, and was able to see, hear and speak to the angel of the Lord. Circumcision for us today is in our obedience to God and dying to our flesh. We too are able to see, hear and speak to the Lord.
We will go through a lot on the way to the Promised Land, but we’re on our way! Every destination has a destiny. Every end point has a path. And every victory has a process. It’s all good, you are on the way!
Thank you Jesus. Thank you for helping us on our way. Thank you being our cloud by day, and our fire by night. Thank you for providing the manna and sweet water. And thank you for lifting our hands when we are weak. Thank you for being the lord of heavens armies. And thank you for providing strategies for us to overtake what is ours! In Jesus name, Amen.
