Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. John 4:34
Sometimes surrender means giving up trying to understand, and being comfortable with not knowing.
When we choose to come to Christ, we choose to walk into the newness of life. God’s ways become our ways: even if we live through some seasons where our flesh wants to take control.
Jesus said, my meat is to do the Father’s will. He said this long before being ridiculed, beaten and crucified. Moments before He gave His life for us, Jesus Christ prayed 3 times so that God would reconsider His fate. But then reasoning with Himself, Jesus said: never mind God, may your will be done- not mine.
From the Lord we learn that the best way to live is to live doing God’s will. God’s will is to do live according to His word. His will is our meat, in other words, we receive strength and power as we do what His word says. Do you need strength? Do you need hope? You can give your life to Jesus, and He will bring you back to life.
God is in control of our destiny, if we put our trust in Him. He is in the drivers seat, and He won’t let us get into an accident or crash into anything. When we find ourselves thinking, I want to give up: it’s God’s way of saying, surrender to me!
Lord Jesus, thank you for leaving us with an example of how to live. Thank you for giving us life principles. I ask you today to open our eyes to see which areas we still need to surrender to you. May you draw those people who are feeling discouraged, tired or hopeless, to you. In Jesus name, Amen.
