Devotional 6/24

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬

If God said it, then it settles it.

To be a Christian is to be a little Christ: how can we be little Christ without knowing and studying the scriptures?

The word of God was written by God. The scriptures say that we are to meditate on the Word of God, day and night. There are blessings and curses associated to our obedience and application of the scriptures. To hold a wrong thought or belief about the Bible is detrimental to life and faith. The scriptures are for our growth, correction and instruction (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

The word of God is like no other book, it is to be cherished: it was written by the Spirit of God. It is infallible, it is alive and it is powerful. The scriptures are powerful as to penetrate even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; and judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Heb. 4:12). It is able to quicken our Spirit in an instant, with healing, deliverance, revelation and/or transformation in a single moment. Anyone who has experienced the supernatural power of scripture can attest to this, including myself. The word of God is the revealed will of God, the counsel of God and the prophetic word of God. There are multiple prophetic words found in the Bible which have been fulfilled throughout history. And many historical events which have been proven by archaeologists and scholars. Some people mistakenly say that the Bible is a man made book, but it is divinely inspired; in order words not of human knowledge, logic, or imagination. Others say that the Bible has contradictions, or mistaken information: which is also not true (do your research).

God used the apostle Peter to heal the sick in the Bible, can we say it was Peter doing the work of God? No, it was God using Peter to His work. God used man to write His word, like a musician uses an instrument but this doesn’t mean it was made by man. For instance, God uses us to do His work: teaching, preaching, prophesying, evangelizing, and many other ministerial labor (healing, cleaning, building, feeding, etc.): we are simply instruments in the hands of God.

Lets live holy lives (separated for God) and be approved before God (2 Tim. 3:15): do you rely on yourself to interpret scripture? Can God trust you with His word?

Let’s pray:

Thank you father God for your word and for your Spirit. We give you honor and praise for your goodness. I pray you create a hunger for all people to search the scriptures and lean into your Spirit for teaching, confirmation and clarification. In Jesus name, Amen.
